To each their own is all I can say. I do not find sims 3 or 2 to be better in any way @Erpe And actually lots of people do enjoy sims 4, not everyone agrees that sims 4 is all bad and has no improvements. I would talk about things that have been done better in sims 4, but its not my job to prove anything.
It’s quite common on a forum, when you state something, that you add arguments. Pages have been written here with very thorough explanations why Sims 4 lacks in comparison to its predecessors. “I can’t play Sims 2 for more than 30 minutes now” isn’t an argument, it’s a description of your personal experience. There are times I don’t even manage 30 minutes with Sims 4 myself (that’s no joke, that’s a sad fact, yet, also, not an argument). But apart from the quality of different versions, there is another problem with the statement the franchise not needing a new version: computers and systems are changing, times are changing, technology is developing. Every franchise comes with new versions. I don’t quite see why it would be any different for Sims.
yeah i dont have to waste my time if i dont want to regardless of what someone else wrote.as far as sims 3 the create a sim is garbage . and open world doesnt offer any gameplay that isnt available in sims 4.name one amazing gameplay feature of open world. my load screens are like5 seconds in sims 4 so they dont bother me.
and again your or anyone elses experience playing sims 4 does not define the "quality" of the game either. in sims 2 the camera is garbage and shoes come attached to the bottoms. cant even have separate shoes.the sims look scary. i hate that game now.
To go absolutely anywhere you want - be it walking, jogging, ridding a bike, in a car or on a horse, in a boat or on a jet ski. Check in on a neighbor on a whim since your going past them anyway. Follow someone who wont disappear at the edge. Swap between characters no matter where each of them are. To see something from your position and know you can actually go there because they aren't fake back drops. Not limited to a certain framed area. not forced to only go to select areas within your game. Create your own world based on your own ideas with your own style of houses (no fake ones) and trees etc. Be able to fish and swim at any point there is water. Be able to have different sized lots (and more of them). ...- " be able to go to Windenburg, San Myshuno and Brindleton all in one sitting" well that is not game play either then
"Not being able to travel between makes things closed off. Closed off and boring" You couldn't get more closed off than Sims 4, even Sims 2 felt more open than S4
Besides I'm mentioning things you can do in an Open World, and if you can do things it is game play. Luckily what constitutes game play to someone is not limited or defined by your expectations :p - alan650New Spectator

i cant even play sims 2 For 30 minutes its awful to me now. goes to show that your opinion alone does not define the quality of any game LOL.Yes there are people that dont like sims 2. and i never liked sims 3. at least i used to like sims 2 back in 2006.i simply do not see this "lack of quality" the few of you speak of.last word.
I had the same issue with Sims 2 today when I tried playing it. It doesn't hold my interest like it did all those years ago. Also I couldn't help but notice it has a lack of objects even with all the packs. However I really enjoy Sims 3. I would say 4 beats 3 however but they are 2 very different games. - Except for jobs (that didnt come with Get To Work) going to school or visiting your neighbors all disappearing rabbit holes that require your imagination. I choose to go somewhere I have the choice how to get there maybe increase my fitness by jogging or riding a bike, maybe get to know my pet horse better or train it for a comp, maybe work my career up for a faster car or simply just teleport, Its the choices that make a game quality

Traveling to a different town , multiple different towns is a lot less limiting than "open" world is. There is nothing unique to the "world" your sims live in , in sims 3, that is not available in sims 4. The movie theater was a rabbit hole, the spa was a rabbithole, the sports arena was a rabbithole and so were restaurants. Thats surely NOT what I call "quality". In sims 4, I dont have to imagine what my sims are doing inside spas and restaurants because I can GO there with them. THAT is what I call QUALITY <3
Yeah but you have an option as Sims 3 store has all kinds of hands on - go inside businesses - I know I own them. Bakery. Tea House. Glass Blower shop, jewelry shop, Restaurants - full service even, Farmers Market, Coffee Shop. Theater. Concert Halls with live shows. Clubs. Comic book shop.Martial Arts studio. Sauna wellness spas. Laundromats.Hair Dressers, Fashion shops. Toy store. Casino's. Resorts. Hotels, so many things I can't think of them all - never mind beaches my sims can swim in the ocean of all over the place, or boat in or surf in or jet ski in or houseboat they can live in - and I can build anything including all of the above and apts with real elevators - then I can go into the future and all the places there you can go into restaurant, stores, etc Tech shop, Robot shop, hoover boards, jet packs, hoover cars ,,,, S much great stuff who uses just rabbit holes - and when we do at least we can see our sims go in and they have a ton of reactions inside of most of them -
man now I am missing Sims 3 - guess I'll go play that for a while tonight - because I can..... Time to take my poor waiting sims on a real tropical vacation..... I don't have issues with Sims 3 - so not a problem.... Beach City here I come...... Go ride the roller coaster and Carousel first - lol.....- Ok we can agree that everyone has a sliding scale of what they consider quality - unfortunately for S4, I consider it way lower on the bar than any other Sims game produced so far...

There was a cinema, spa and restaurant available from the store for the sims 3. You can also move to another town if you have the simoleans and travel there for visits by use of a mod.
There are rabbit holes in the sims 4. Parenthood voluntary activities, non active careers, school, city living activities like the circus and opera are all rabbit holes. The sims 3 is the only game I can watch my sims children go to school, I can see the building and watch as other kids show up and then pan the camera back to see that my sim is pushing her toddler in a push chair heading to the beach. She can spend the day swimming in the ocean, playing with the toddler in the ocean, snorkelling, boating and wind surfing. Come 2pm when Dad finishes I can be instantly taken to him and watch him go to the supermarket to pick up ingredients and then meet his wife and kids at the park. It’s effortless, convenient and easy. I can’t play that scenario in the sims 4.
All the sims 3 worlds are unique. Dragon Valley for example is completely different to say Bridgeport with a completely different feel and theme. Sims 4 worlds consist of fx backdrops the sims cannot even see and the worlds are limited. No swimming in the ocean, no toddlers going out and about with their families and the only reason you can travel between worlds is because the worlds are tiny.
Look at San Myshuno. For a city it consists of a few karaoke bars, a gym and a park. No shops, no cinemas, no bowling, no restaurants. The player is limited as to what they can add to this world because lack of space is a huge issue. Can’t delete apartments. My sim is forced to go to another world should they want to use say the library or go to a night club or a spa. You have that problem in every world though because the towns are small. Also it’s immersion breaking to say leave Bella dancing in Willow Creek Nightclub along with a bunch of other townies, travel to say the lounge in Brindleton Bay and when you get there, the same townies you just left behind are magically there in the new world.
Not being able to create my own towns with a create a world or map editor is extremely limiting. - I hope I won't regret this, but I just had to unlurk and respond to this: "and open world doesnt offer any gameplay that isnt available in sims 4".Spoilerhttps://www.thesims3.com/sims3_asset/sims3_asset/media/shard000/shard000/662/174/019/00/screenshot_original.jpg

Riding a horse in the open world, a sims riding skill increases as well as the relationship.
I'll leave now. :p - MidnightAura86New Spectator

You said this better than I did. I also forgot all those venues (despite owning them)
Makes me want to go and play the sims 3! Although it’s just after 2:30 am and I know if I did I would see the sun rise!
