In one of my saves, Johnny reunites with his family and retakes his birth name, Johnathan Landgraab. (Johnny is often used as a nickname for Johnathan, and I feel that Johnathan is more in fitting with the Landgraab’s snooty sounding names) Johnny Zest is what he uses for his stage name within his comedy career.
The story goes that he was disowned for two reasons: his pursuit of comedy and refusal of carrying on the family business is the primary reason. Nancy fully expected for her eldest son to follow in her footsteps, and when he didn’t and decided to work towards a career in something as foolish as stand up, she was livid. The second reason is because he is gay in my game. Despite her criminal background, I play Nancy as a very pious/religious sim in her day to day life. Sort of a Tony Soprano type deal; crime boss but also a practicing Catholic. So when Johnny came out to the family, it was sort of the straw that broke the camels back. She didn’t want his “influence” around Malcolm, so she kicked him out, disowned him, and disinherited him.
And as much as it hurt him, he accepted it knowing that the only person who can change his mother’s mind is her. Started going by his stage name on and off stage, and living his peaceful life in the desert. As it turned out, it wasn’t so foolish to pursuit a career in comedy when you’re as funny as he is. He had a lot of success. Was even invited to work a charity art show where he met a charming, eccentric art critic, Diego Lobo. He was instantly smitten.
Love blossomed between them, and they were married just a year later. Nancy and Malcolm didn’t attend the wedding, but his father Geoffrey surprised him as a guest. Seeing his oldest son so happy in love and successful in life really put things into perspective, and he left the reception that night with the intention of working on his wife’s perception of their estranged son.
It wasn’t long until Johnny and Diego decided to start a family, and through the gift of modern medicine and a surrogate mother, a baby girl they named Rosalie was born. Geoffrey had been meeting his son for lunch on occasion for months, and was developing a bond with both his new son-in-law and his granddaughter, all in secret while he tried to win over his wife. Rosalie played a role in winning her over at last.
Nancy agreed to meet with her son for the first time in a decade, and the second little Rosalie was placed in her arms, and she marveled how beautiful she was, and how she took after Nancy and the Landgraab family in appearance, her heart changed at last. She added Johnathan to the will once more, and embraced him as he was at last, even insisting that he retake the family name so that baby Rosalie could as well and reap the benefits of being a part of such a well known family line. Johnny is still a bit strained with his mother, but has a wonderful relationship with his father and even his brother now. The Lobo-Langraab’s are invited to all the Landgraab family functions and Rosalie loves being showered with attention by her Grandmama, Grandpapa and Uncle Malcolm.
I might share some pictures of my version if Johnny and his family if anyone’s is interested.
