- Disappointing. Yes, but not included for good reason. I think it needs its own GP or SP to unlock its full potential. I never played sims 3, but people constantly compare it to the sims 4. Whenever I see the sims 3 it looks very plastic.
- It's definitely disappointing but I hope we can at the least be able to place rental lots in the world.
- I feel like hotels don’t have to always be synonymous with the tropics. It would be cool, but I would want that as a game pack or a patch. I’d much rather the team patch in the ability to own a vacation/rental property.
- jadonbakesNew SpectatorSo, I will not be purchasing Island Living (right away). Part of this decision had to do with lack of hotels... But now I'm seeing it this way: hotels are definitely bigger than Island Living (not expansion pack big, but there could be hotels built in ANY of the worlds). Like what if restaurants had only come with, say, City Living--and you had to purchase City Living in order to make a restaurant in any of the worlds? No thank you. Hotels will come as a game pack eventually. And that will probably be after the 32-bit/legacy edition happens, because evidently 32-bit isn't strong enough to support types of lots like hotels which must house multiple families (this logic is based on other users' understanding of what the end of 32-bit support means, and not my own)

Ok, I come from an Island and I'm really sick of seeing people thinking that islands are only holiday spots.
An island pack doesn't mean that they should add hotels.
I want hotels too but there are so many other ways to add it to the game so I don't understand why people are crying on this forum because they decided to not add it in Island Living.
Oh and it's Sims 4 Island Living not Sims 4 Tourism.
exactly! not to get too deep in social issues, but i welcome the change. hawaii and other islands that have its tourism has its own problems with mainlanders that im sure developers were aware of given they ignored the whole hotel system and instead opted for a conservation system instead (hawaii has been....dealing with a lot of trash....from mainland tourists.....not to mention the other social issues but yeah......).
yes! I tried explaining this to someone on twitter but it wasn't coming across nearly as nicely as y'all put it. I love that they've made this island living and not island paradise. This iteration may have it's drawbacks but they really are trying to showcase lots of different cultures and I applaud them for that.- We need a vacation EP with 3 new worlds and the ability to run a hotel
- If you've already done that in 3....then go play 3. 4 isn't supposed to copy 3. Its supposed to be different. In fact, when playing in 3's "open water world" my computer would crash every 30 minutes, and it hasn't crashed once since playing 4. I can actually play as a mermaid, and sure their are glitches and problems, but far less then 3. And if they made it exactly like 3 then it wouldn't be 4. They hear us, and they know we want things, they can either make it and get our money, or they can have disappointed fans and missed opportunities.
- Since there is not much to do there except swim around and swim around some more and then swim around, I created a mermaid and I am just hanging out in the lagoon and swimming around.
- A Hotel GP would be fun @Akil, although I'm glad that they did not include resorts like in TS3. Although if they did, they could be different (engine, game design yada yada) the ones in TS3 were unimpressive. If they did do a hotel GP, I wonder if it would be based kind of like the restaurant mechanics in the Dine Out GP, but I'm not sure.
- I am sorely missing houseboats, hotels and hotel management and pool items such as the pool bar and slides.
We had them before so why not now. I hope they will add these on in a later pack although it would have been nice to have them in the EP.
I am afraid they will never be an addition in Sims 4 and that would just be a shame. I would rather have a pool bar than a dolphin. I would rather manage a resort than clean up a beach and I would rather have a houseboat than another residential lot.
On another note, I did not see anyone playing with a toddler in the ocean. We had that as well in sims 3 and I was hoping something like that would be a feature in this pack.
