(L&D) Interesting find (maybe)

I just stumbled upon some cool facts that might (or may not) have been among the many tidbits inspiring the lore creators of the Life & Death pack. I read about "The Order of Lenore", and googled it to learn more. Then a random link triggered me:

There exists a comic series named "Lenore, The Cute Little Dead Girl" inspired by the poem "Lenore" by Edgar Allan Poe. And even more - Lenore's story takes place in a small town called Nevermore, which is said to take its name from "The Raven", another of Poe's poems.

Can it be a coincidence? Lenore in Nevermore/The Raven - The Order of Lenore in Ravenwood. Was there a Poe fan on the dev team? :)

I did not see anything regarding tarot cards, but I didn't read it all. More here for anyone interested. I never heard about this comic before, it sounds super cute - Lenore even killed the Easter Bunny by accident ;)

    I've read that comic! It's hilarious in a morbid way. 😆💀

    There are a lot of Poe references in the pack for sure! When it comes to the macabre and goth culture, Poe is almost always referenced. Lenore is also the name of the lost love in the poem The Raven. (I can actually recite that poem in its entirety, was on my personal bucket list. 😁)

    Here's an excerpt (punctuation is probably off from the original, plus the forums is spacing it for me for some reason so I improvised from memory):

    "Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December
    and each separate, dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor.

    Eagerly I wished the morrow, vainly I had sought to borrow
     from my books surcease of sorrow; sorrow for the lost Lenore;

    For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore;
    Nameless here for evermore."

  • The raven did remind me of Poe but I didn't know about Lenore. In fact that name reminded me more of the fabric softener Lenor we use in the UK!😇

  • I'm guessing most of us got the Poe/Lenore reference immediately.  It's not exactly obscure.
