Listen Up Maxis

If you don't make an announcement tomorrow, do not even think about doing a fake announcement for April Fools Day on Wednesday. I am not in the mood for fake announcements while waiting for real announcements.

Thanks :)

In my opinion, if they have something ready they should release it now while people have some money. If they wait until people get back to work, most likely people will be playing catch up with their bills and will be more broke than they are now. People are looking for an outlet from stress and while stuck at home. Some people will spend money on home entertainment now because tv bingeing has got to be getting boring by now. I started playing another game because as usual these guys don’t communicate. It feels like more stress from the frustration than it is worth at this point.

Anyway they could at least let us know what is coming even if they are delaying the release.

While I do play TWO other game franchises, I still expect better quality gameplay content to come for Sims 4. Waiting on it to be delivered, but expect shallow gameplay as has been their practice. Btw, I also can play Story of Seasons and Little Dragon's Cafe, but I prefer playing on my PC and allowing my children to play on the Switch and 3DS systems. I use Sims 4 as a stress relief outlet, since I work in an essential-type job in a grocery store. I am really starting to hate all people because of certain behaviors of customers in the store I work. This epidemic has people being crazy hoarders and mean-spirited toward employees when stock is so limited by our suppliers.

I've worked with DHS before this occurred last year so I understand working a thankless job. I appreciate all the work that you do. I wish I could work in health care now to help out, but I'm one of the risk factor people and everyone in my household is too. Doesn't help hearing news cats and dogs are dying from it too, so I even have to be careful of my two cats and dogs. Awe that is sweet you let them play the Switch. Honestly your kids I would highly recommend getting AC for as a stress relief. It is such a relaxing game.

Can't say I'm shocked by behavior since how I've seen people react on social media, but sorry it is effecting you. My neighbors have been so kind to us offering some toilet paper and doing grocery shopping for us sometimes.

But yes exactly why it is really hard to play the Sims 4 right now because Sims do act like crazy hoarders and mean-spirited and selfish towards other Sims. It is just not a stress relief outlet for me anymore and reflects the spirit of the world right now. With Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley it is more about escaping into the outdoors, going without nothing and working for it, and really about community. I just can't get that with the Sims 4 and honestly with not having work now and so many others not having work, I just can't feel guilty not supporting the Gurus right now.

So it is like whether the Sims 4 comes out with new content or not doesn't matter for those of us without work having to stay home due to age or compromised immune systems. I had to teach my mom how to use the Walmart App today just so we could avoid those crazy hoarders and mean-spirited shoppers by picking things we needed right away without having to interact with other shoppers. Shoppers are just not respecting the 6 foot rule especially with the elderly and compromised immune systems and workers and it is really unfair to all of us. I mean Amazon workers are even on strike right now because of being treated unfairly not following health care regulations. But yes I did buy AC digitally so I wouldn't risk interacting with shoppers and workers. I have been so sick this year with people being gross even prior to this with lack of hygiene and people continue to spit on sidewalks. I am glad you can escape the isolation but yes even a friend of mine had a panic attack after going grocery shopping with how people were behaving. Right now I wouldn't even want to deal being around the other shoppers fighting over Sims game cards, packs, and toilet paper. I rather have Gurus be safe at home than care about a DLC pack because at least you can escape your work when you come home. They can't and have to deal with crazy hoarders and mean spirited people everyday and around their children now while watching and home schooling their kids and changing diapers and still have to go out for food and medicine. I wouldn't wish that upon anyone. Anyway while you wait months to years for decent content, I'll be happily playing Animal Crossing with other Simmers and gamers and long-distance family in a stress free environment. According to health care professionals this virus isn't going away anytime soon and if anything is going to kill the Sims 4, this is. So many other businesses are having to close down too and only the essential ones like grocery stores remain. Nintendo I see have a higher chance of surviving this than Maxis at least with their PC and console market. Mobile market I think will survive.

Despite all the sadness I am remaining highly amused at some of the Gurus remark like being frowned up by someone who plays Animal Crossing too. It brightens my day seeing so many Gurus and ex-Gurus enjoy the game too. All the Game Changers have been playing it too which is fun to see them bond together with the game as well as their communities.

It makes me giggle a bit thinking the Gurus seem to be having more fun playing AC rather than their own game...hrmmm and now the game changers have joined in the fun LOL.

Yeah I am guilty of getting one of my friends and her husband into the game talking about it while SimGuruGraham was streaming, oops, but no regrets. Honestly they need something new to enjoy so I don't blame Game Changers either. Like with the Sims I never trusted multiplayer, but with AC they just handle it well, but still evil stories I hear with that like how one person chopped all the trees on their friend's island. The terra-forming and pond tool I've been wanting for the Sims 4 for years and different parts of the world having different seasons is so cool. It is just nice being apart of a positive community again where people just want to help each other progress and gift and send fun notes to each other. Makes me wonder if Maxis will try to bring MySims back though to compete against Animal Crossing fairly. With the Sims 4 well not much of a competition and honestly doesn't even reflect the new norm or represent what Simmers are dealing with now. It reflects the lifestyle of the rich and famous and that comes off as more of an insult to the vast community even more now. Teaching Simmers to hoard more with the Sims 4 without consequence is not helping the community and honestly promoting the behavior we are seeing in grocery stores. But I guess pro with the Sims 4 is we never see Sims use toilet paper. Grosses me out watching them cook throwing snot into their food too. XD I'm like Sim wash your hands before cooking. On that note my sister had blue light with hand sanitizer compared to hand washing and it was only 70 % as effective as hand washing when she was in dental school. I do kind of wish a lot of the Sim sinks allowed space for soap in builds. There are so many no no hygiene things I see non-slob Sims do that make me miss the Sims having a cleaning skill.

I guess basically besides that community pack, wouldn't hurt to catch up on bug fixes this year until the economy recovers. Not everyone is going to have spare cash for gaming this year. If a DLC comes this winter how many people can afford it? My state said a second strain is coming this fall so honestly I rather have Gurus stay safe than forcing DLC upon Gurus and Simmers in these hard times right now. Let's get the five year old bugs fixed and patches done in the meantime that have no crutch time. There is more than enough DLC for Simmers to catch up on and gift in the meantime. $800+ is far from pocket change for any game especially for newer Simmers just coming into the Sims 4.

... so this is going to be my first Feast of Fools with the Sims community. What, if anything, is the "norm" for such events?

I mean, I'm mostly a TTRPG gamer, so I'm more familiar with the joke sourcebooks that many game companies will release, and I've heard of some multiplayer game pranks. And April Fool's does seem like the sort of thing that Maxis would participate in, I just don't know how.

And yes, they need to be very judicious in their choice of prank - if any - for tomorrow. There's a reason I put myself in a 24 social media brownout for April 1st.

Did they ever do an in-game prank on April 1st?

I hardly ever use Twitter. I don't really care for the format. I have entered the occasional giveaway on there but most of the time I forget to look at it.

Neither do I. But, thankfully, a pinned post at the top of this board curates every Sims Guru twitter post for us, right here on these forums.

I didn't even realise that! Thanks.

Honestly, a major patch to fix the issues I'm having would be better than an April Fool's Day joke. You know, so that my sim stops changing into the hospital gown after giving birth, they stop walking ALL THE WAY upstairs to wash dishes that were literally sitting beside an unused sink, the fact that my sims never seem to sit down to watch TV even with the couch in front of the TV and completely able to be interacted with on command....

If they really listened, they'd add back story progression. It's really sad to create a sim, get the married and have kids only to realize that any of the kids who grow up and move out will die alone without any advancement in their life except for age.

I just make them sit down or sit together. I just get annoyed when they ignore the table sometimes if the table isn't set and eat their pizzas sitting in front of the TV. That's so lower class! :D
  • Honestly with the lock down, I don't think a lot of Simmers and Gurus from what I've noticed on Twitch and Twitter mind playing Animal Crossing right now especially with it being a mental outlet with going outside. It is bringing a lot of creativity and game play and variety that was lacking in the Sims 4. For a new game, it honestly is offering more content and a better overall price than an old five year old game anyways. Using physical amiibo cards and figures over just doing DLC after DLC is such a better business plan. Not like people can afford to buy a ton of DLC packs right now with the most people in recent history out of work at the same time. Food and healthcare is just a bigger priority right now than games and honestly think the Sims and several other gaming companies are going to feel the economic effects of world events and health care professionals say it will resurface in the fall too. I just rather have people safe than worry about intangible packs right now. Need new gaming content, try Animal Crossing or Stardew Valley or Minecraft. Venture outside the Sims in the casual gaming area. Planet Zoo a lot of Game Changers have been playing too. So it is like why stress over the Sims 4 which majority of content forces Sims to be indoors when there are so many other games to escape to with the outdoors?

  • I thought this was good for anyone that is working from home right now. I just heard a story of a bus driver passing away from a woman that rode the bus and didn't cover their cough. Last time I went grocery shopping the checker did not cover their cough. I showered right away and wiped down everything. But yes please everyone keep that 6 foot distance even when working, cover coughs, and wash your hands regardless of what you do. Lives are more important and please be patient towards every type of worker and make sure they are following the health code guidelines too. We will get through this together.

Sometimes I feel frustrated not being able to work or take my tax exam right now, but my dad had to remind me what times we are living in now and money is not the priority. He is supporting two households right now while working for a fireplace warehouse to keep people's homes warm and be able to cook in their backyards while fighting cancer. My mom had heart surgery and I am a spoonie with a compromised immune system. So if you know someone who is having to isolate themselves right now, please reach out to them digitally. That is far more important that worrying about a pack coming out every three months right now. Plus wouldn't hurt to do giveaways right now either if you have the urge to spend money on Sims and stream your games. Look for ways to bring Simmers together and help them out during these dark times.
