Yeay! More stuff that will be improved at a later point but was released before being finished for what reason exactly?

Because they literally couldn’t make an announcement or release dlc without a bunch of all caps shouting

I’m guessing they’ve been working on these for a fairly long time, and likely would’ve liked a couple more months to perfect them but they were beginning to face a choice between that and being boiled alive, so there you go.

@Pamtastic72 It's not like they had a knife to their throat and needed to release immediately to avoid getting killed. People were requesting them in the comments which they can ignore as they have done for years now. They were not forced by anyone and as a major company they should know better than to release a new feature while claiming "its not finished though". Then just finish it and then release or did you just want to see if people would be mad that it's lackluster before putting in more effort?

I’m pretty sure it’s no simple feat to blend the climbing animation with a brand new animation-crawling, and the climbing under the covers animation and make it as smooth and seamless as it is.

Wow! A new animation! Meanwhile previous Sims games were so loaded with animations even for little easter eggs not a lot of people would see. But it's so crazy that a huuuuuge company with a massive amount of budget made one new animation.

Then go play a previous sims game. I have S3, I play S3. It not the utopian paradise of game everyone is always carrying on about. It’s truly not the be all end all of games. It’s. Just. Okay. To be perfectly honest. Build mode is endlessly frustrating. I can’t live in world A and have friends or family in world B. Venues are generally ghost towns, there are very few sims in the streets when I go out. Half the time I rage quit because it’s just not fun for me.

Is 4 perfect no, are there improvements I want to see? Yes, do I think many if not all of those improvements will be made? Yes. I really do yes, because I believe the dev team is trying with their whole heart and soul to not only improve the new content but to also improve the base game. But it’s going to take time, and call me crazy, but I am pretty convinced at this point that this is the reason they did the 64 bit update. I think that was the first step because it honestly seems to me that that’s when the base game improvements really got going. They said today there are years ahead. I’m in for the long haul. Sims 3 pretty much stinks in my opinion and I likely won’t play it much if at all, and I have no interest in 5 if the rumors about online multiplayer are true.

So we can play with it now without having to wait. ??
  • @SeanBobbyG I thought the same thing, but apparently that's not the case. The loft beds do work with objects underneath, but if you were to place a desk under the bed, you would have to make sure it is only one tile wide and under the head of the bed not the foot or in the middle. That's the only way to make it work without obstructing the routing.

For some reason, some non-functional items can go under the bed and the routing is fine, but when you place a dresser or two tile wide desk underneath the bed, sims can't get in the bed. They just stand there waving at you in dismay..."Help! The desk underneath my bed keeping me from sleeping!"

Otherwise, sims will be able to use the object under the bed, but not the bed itself.

@Pamtastic72 I don't see how the Sims 3 suddenly fits into this discussion. I never mentioned it nor did I say it's perfect. I would critize the Sims 3 the same way I do with the Sims 4 you better believe.

I'm sorry but when I paid for this game 7 years ago to get improvements now is just not good enough. It's not a good thing imo to develop the core of the game after the game has launched. It's unproffessional, lazy and greedy and we all know just how much money the people making this game have.
A first step to make improvements to the game 5, 6, 7 years later. Really? Am I missing something, how is that not worth being called out? They have so many resources available to them, they should be investing in the game big time. The changes that we have gotten so far are so basic and easy to execute and are also lazily done with little thought to them and without testing how new features will work with all the different DLC they have released, hence the literally hundreds of bugs (Been to AnswersHQ lately?)

Call me crazy but I don't see no passion, heart and soul in a team that fails to playtest their builds, packs and new features before releasing them. If you see passion there then be my guest, but I see none.

There's no need to be rude. Have you read any of their Twitter threads? I recommend it; it shows how voracious this community can be. People incessantly make demands whenever the devs make an announcement. I imagine it gets tiring. I personally believe there would be riots if we went without a highly requested feature for much longer.
Although I do understand being frustrated...but don't worry, they're planning to add more!
And about ignoring the community...not sure that's a good idea.

Because they literally couldn’t make an announcement or release dlc without a bunch of all caps shouting:

    “❤️❤️❤️❤️!?!? Where are bunk beds!?!?”
“Who asked for this? Where are bunk beds?”
“Simmers: we want bunk beds! Devs: here’s _____!”
“We didn’t ask for _____, we want freaking bunk beds!”

And on, and on, and on...so now the bunk beds are here, they’re a little rough around the edges and now the same crowd that threw themselves on the ground banging their fists and kicking their feet aren’t happy still because “they aren’t finished”, “they should’ve been in base game”, “they should have been included in ____.”

I’m guessing they’ve been working on these for a fairly long time, and likely would’ve liked a couple more months to perfect them but they were beginning to face a choice between that and being boiled alive, so there you go. I’m pretty sure it’s no simple feat to blend the climbing animation with a brand new animation-crawling, and the climbing under the covers animation and make it as smooth and seamless as it is. But, no surprise still not good enough for many. I for one am enjoying them even in their slightly rough hewn state, and will accept the challenge of design with them and figuring out exactly what I can stuff under a loft bed and have everything still work and accept that over time they will ultimately improve. Because I am *gasp* grateful for the time and talent the devs contribute to the game, and I do absolutely believe they really are trying to listen and give us the things we want to see. I fully accept that these things take time, as they explained in detail in the live stream, due to the need in some cases to have support technology to make them work. If all of this makes me a “boot licker” and an “apologist” then so be it. I LOVE THE SIMS 4, and I don’t apologize for that.

Are you serious? your blaming the players for them putting out yet another unfinished product. Are we also to blame for the unfinished rushed base game as well or them announcing kits and rushing out the bugged out dust pack put blame where it belongs its sure not the players.

You were waxing about previous iterations, I discussed the one I am most familiar with. None of them are perfect because perfect doesn’t exist. People who seek it find only frustration and dissatisfaction.
