Movie Group Watching Borked?

Is it a common issue that sims can't sit and group watch a movie? I've noticed lately every time I've used the "watch movie with..." command there is a "routing" issue or something, despite there being several seats available. NPC sims aren't able to watch the movie with my active sim, but I can tell my active sim to sit and watch it, thus solving the issue.

Has anyone come across this?
