I agree with Ellupelluellu's suggestion. Problem solved and no need to start over yet again.
I last used UI Cheats to demote my sim when the game mistakenly promoted her by two career levels. It's a very dependable mod, always updated within a day after updates.
Then I purchased Adventure Awaits, and I was required to update again. Why?

Ah, I was assured by a modder the patch didn't disturb any mods. Perhaps, my save is just too old? I may try one more thing. I'll start for a third time most recently by doing a game folder refresh and then I'll transfer saves to the brand new saves folder, so it's almost like starting anew. I'd bang my head on the desk, but since my brain injury, I just can't bring myself to really use that phrase much anymore. And if I tear any more hair out of my head --- I could end up bald!
