Seems like there has been a bit of drama in this thread ever since EA Play was canceled. We haven't heard of new packs coming, but to be fair, Eco Lifestyle is a new pack that had come out a few weeks ago this month. I'm pretty sure some Simmers on the forums want to talk about the game itself and not the real-life drama, but somehow it's spilling onto the forums. That aside, EA needs to learn from their mistakes that has caused Sims 4 to not be as enjoyable as previous iterations - making lackluster packs and expecting us to pay a lot of money, trying hard to pander to specific groups just to earn more potential customers, not fixing some of the more annoying bugs, and extending Sims 4's lifespan even though the game could break at one point and not be playable anymore. If Sims 5 comes out and they make the same mistakes, I won't be shelling out any more money... especially when my country's economy is weakened at the moment due to the pandemic.
As far as I know, Sims 4 is a "safe-space" simulator where everything is kid-appropriate. That's why I've looked at a few, ahem, mods that can't be named. Not everyone wants to play a game that is too easy and lackluster. Ever since Sims 4 launched in 2014, we've been asking for more consequences, depth, personality traits, aspirations, and an overhaul for children, teens, and elders. The toddlers are alright, but the babies need to be freed from the bassinets.
The bottom line is, when a game or a company tries too hard to be politically correct, the quality of the game suffers... and so does the company. EA didn't make a big deal out of real-life politics or issues during the TS2 and TS3 eras. I'll be careful next time EA announces a new pack, and see if it has any substance or replayability value. Even if Nifty Knitting has an interesting concept, and some nice items, I won't hurry to buy it until I look into it through other Simmers' LPs and reviews.
Well, I wouldn't even want to know what 2021 could be like for Sims 4. That being said, I wish EA would take the time to consider our feedback and fix the core issues of the game.
