They didn’t say anything about higher quality than other versions, I rather think it has to do with art style and making it fit that style. Like grass is much simpler than in Sims 2 and 3 as well (and certainly not higher quality). So if anything I think they don’t find it suitable when it becomes too realistic. As I understand it they have the same issue with body hair.
