Playing the roommate

Question

I decided that since my daughter now has a boyfriend, I'd invite him to live on the lot as a roommate. The whole family adores him so it just made sense. The way, we could closely monitor the relationship and nurture it.

However, Pierce is always uncomfortable and now is very tense. He and my husband are at odds and so the situation is becoming awkward. (Such is life, right?) Anyway so my question is; how do I switch to Pierce so that I can fix whatever is wrong with him?

I went to manage worlds then manage households but it says he is currently not in world and won't give me the option to play as him.

I don't want to make him part of the household or lose him as a roommate. So is there a way to switch to him?

You can use the add to household functions when shift-selecting a Sim which he mentions on the Xbox, you just have to enable testingcheats first (which is also true on PC).

To enable testingcheats on Xbox hold all 4 shoulder buttons at once to bring up the cheat console, and then type "testingcheats true" (without the quotation marks).
After that, shift-select a sim and one of the options is to add or remove a sim from the currently active household.

Basically an option to "rent a room" in an NPC controlled household.   I'd so be down for that sort of thing.

Thanks for the suggestion.I'm on Xbox so not sure if that matters. How can I add and remove him as a HH member? Also, if he I make him a temp HH member, I'll have to move him in and out every time I want to play him. The last problem with that is I'm planning to have a full house. We have two more babies to plan for and the house is full so it would have to be very temporary.

To make them a roommate you have to ask them and they have to accept which I think is guaranteed if they don't currently live on a different lot so that part would be easy enough I think.

I just wasn't sure what you meant by adding and removing them simultaneously to the HH.

Also the biggest problem with this idea is limited HH space with all of these kids running around.
