It only took a few hours to reach level 3 using the research machine at the BriteChester library. You'll gain R&D skill for any topic but Research Methodology gives the most. Level 6 took a bit longer than level 3. Most sims will spend many hours doing homework, presentations, and term papers, so anything that makes them faster will save time over the long run.
You can also Practice Debate at the mirror or on a debate podium, read skill books, or take part in debates. - This is probably why I'm taking forever doing homework! Thank you very much for the helpful tips! <3

Just wanted to share the tip that the new Research and Debate skill is a godsend for any student in university! At level 3 they unlock the ability to do their homework faster! If you stack this with the new "Study Spot" lot trait you can zoom through their homework even more. This helped me get so much more accomplished! :)
At what age did you start that skill? And what activities increase it?
All my sims are young adults that have used it. I have no idea if teenagers can do it as I haven't thought to try that out! You use the new research machines and can practice debate on mirrors.
