Sad Day When You Realize the Toddlers Have Been UP ALL NIGHT

Yeah. I rarely look at the clock in the game, except when a Sim has a particular place to be by a certain time, that is. Erik is home from work, and he spent some time with his eldest child, then decided it was time to round up the Toddlers (of which there are three at this time). He ends up having to teach Melody manners, then goes to fetch her twin sister, Harmony to put her to bed. Happily Jamison went right to sleep after finishing his homework. As I check to see where Erik is and pan the camera around to the backyard, one of the five Roosters crows I take that moment to look at the game clock — it's Five AM! Where did the day go? :open_mouth:

Happily, the Toddlers needs are full. I find that if I cheat them up and then disable decay prior to their Dad having a full day down at Plumbob Studios, it's better. Once he's done with his gigs (he often has daily: a concert, a photoshoot, and a bit part in a major film), I go to each Toddler and enable decay again.

But my goodness, the time simply got away from me once again!

How often do you get so caught up in your own gameplay that you fail to check the in-game clock? Please share, this could be fun. :)

I used to let the toddlers’ needs dictate their schedule. You could say they trained me wrong. Because in Sims 2, for example, the toddler went to bed whenever they were tired, and when they woke up they’d wail until someone let them out of their cribs (I can still hear it in my head, can you?) There was no schedule. I was at their beck and call at any time. They were always up all night.

Only recently have I given my toddlers a nap during the day and put to bed just before the children would. No strict times, but the toddlers will keep sleeping through the night after their energy is full, unless they need the potty or something. It’s nice, I definitely prefer playing with these toddlers. Are they a little too self-sufficient? Maybe, but they still get plenty of attention (in a locked nursery).

I loved it when there was a Toddler who was able to escape the crib. That was a rare occurrence, but I did have one or two. And, yes, those Sims2 Toddlers had lungs! As in screaming at the top of their. LOL

I might have had one toddler who could do that. I was very unlucky when it came to that!
  • If I remember right, they had to know how to walk to escape their crib in 2. I had CC toddler mats, cause I was tired of those screaming toddlers lol. And now I have a pair of tots who inherited their father's Never Weary trait. This should prove interesting...

For toddlers in game, I don’t have set bedtimes for them, although if they’re a set of twins or triplets, I try to get them to bed at the same time so that they’re all on the same schedule. For children and teens, I try and get them to bed by 10.30 at the latest, by which time most are getting tired anyway. I don’t use motive cheats in S4, though for a time I did in S3 until I realised that I had put the father of my family on the treadmill and left him there for three days ?.

Oh, please forgive me but I laughed when I read about the father being on the treadmill for three days. Poor guy!

I thought they had to have really high active traits. But I could be remembering wrong. I taught all my tots to walk and it never led to that.

I'm uncertain which it was but they had to have something to escape. It's just been too long since I played Sims2. The last time was the summer just before Sims4 was released. I wanted to re-acquaint myself with loading screen so it wouldn't be such a shock to my system. LOL
