saving and backing up my following creators in the gallery

Hi,

can anyone tell me if and how I can back up/save the creators I am following and have downloaded creations from the gallery. I know I can save the lots and sims I have already downloaded that go into the tray folder however sometimes I do not want to place ever lot I have ever used back into the game and occasionally I want to reinstall 4 and the last time I did this I lost all my favorite creator creations and was struggling to find them again to add back into my game so am wondering if there is an easier way?

  • I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but what I sometimes do is to take a screenshot (Print Screen) of the page, with all the information. Save it, and put it somewhere I can find it again in a different folder that not part of the Sims 4 folder.
  • You could favourite the ones you like? I do that sometimes, especially if I plan on using something again. I wouldn’t reupload for personal use as some creators really hate that.

Thanks I know this may sound silly although I know how to print screen is it possible in 4 is there some sort of page that lists all the creators i follow so i can do this?

okay I do mainly favorite the lots I download that I like from the gallery but had no idea i could find them again using this method if you would not mind explaining how? I never upload someone else's work ever so i apologize if i said something that would make you think that i am simply trying to find an easy way to save/find all the lots I use in each world so if I need to find them again to use them it is not so difficult..

Sorry, I didn’t mean to imply that you’d do that, but I figured I should mention it. To find content you’ve favorited go to your catalogue and then use the “My Favourites” filter. Unfortunately you have to be online to do this.
  • Hi @QueenMercy

I don't often play sims 4 so I am a little behind the times and then suddenly I will play all the time for a while so I am not very knowledgeable about the game at all so thanks for responding back to what may sound a silly question to other players who have more knowledge than me :) From what you are saying if I reinstalled 4 completely at some point my favorites stored in my catalogue from my favorite creators would be there? I hope this is correct as it would save me a lot of time.. I know you do not mean to imply anything believe me i am the last person who would not give credit I won't even download a lot on the gallery if I see it was not from the original creator as i think that is not fair at all and seems to be something that happened with series 4 only? Being online is no problem it's trying to save the lots I use all the time I am finding problematic for example in 3 I have folders with the simpaks of all the creator builds I use in my worlds backed up and I am trying to find some sort of method I can do that with 4 as well.. :)
  • @SPARKY1922 I believe favorites are tied to your gallery profile and not your library, so it should work. I’ve switched computers a few times and my favourites list still has stuff I added when I first got the game years ago. The only problem I can think of is that they’d get removed if the creator deletes them.
  • There is an application/program called sims 4 tray importer, with it you can create a zip file of any lot or household from your library. I have an external HD where I back up my game, in it I also save lots and sims, I have file folders for the lots I use when I start a new game, like for Newcrest. Also files for sims I created and another folder for downloaded sims.

I started backing up my tray files because having no or very few things in my library made my game run a lot better. It's a bit inconvenient to load the files back when I start a game, yes. But ultimately faster loading screens and a non-laggy game is worth it.
  • Thank you @QueenMercy

That method seems good enough for me even if I could possibly lose the odd build as the alternative to make those saves appears tedious and time consuming-) thank you for your help.. :)

    Hi @sunblond

Thanks for that extra info I think someone has mentioned this to me before and I thought it sounded difficult but I do like the idea of knowing what goes where for example if I used this program could I save/back up lots and sims for various worlds and be able to add them back easily if I had to reinstall or start new worlds again?

Yes, you can create different file folders somewhere and place the zip files into to categories, this is exactly what I do
  • Thank you @sunblond

I will look into this :)

Edit: got it working thanks :)
