Seasonal Lot Marker Marker in Sims 4 Seasons??

Hi,

I not sure if many of you remember this feature in Sims 3 called the season lot marker. It was a buydebug object that allowed you to customise any lot for each of the four seasons.

It was one of my favourite features as it allowed you to decorate each house & community lot in a season and the game would automatically show/hide the decorations as the game moved within the seasons.

It was a side effect of the festivals, but could be used in unlimited ways.

For example, I would use it to make my shopping lots put up Christmas decoration in winter and have flower boxes appear on all the neighbour's windows in Spring.

I wonder if they will have a similar feature in Sims 4? They did show a house transitioning between all 4 seasons and changing decorations?

I'm wondering if decorations etc. will also be planned/scheduled/automated from the calendar. (Could work similar to setting up Club outfits for sims that they only use at those times).

  • So for Autumn you want to have Spooky Day, day 3 Fall, then Harvestfest, day 6 Fall. Both of these have decorations, but not the same ones.
  • Perhaps you can schedule Spooky Day decorations up from 1-3 Fall, and Harvestfest decorations from 4-6 Fall.
  • Once the dates are chosen, you can click on the event and choose to "Setup in build mode"
  • Set decorations, furniture, activities etc, and sit back and watch it change on the day.

  • I don't know if anyone posted but it seems there will be a similar object. In the blog they talk about a box of decorations which i assume as the function

I took that to mean a box filled with decorations that allow our sims to decorate from. Like the animation in the trailer where the kid decorated the tree. I'm hoping for something that will allow automatic deco to go up each season, if we want it to.

It'd be cool if we could set the yearly decorations and use the box to make them appear. That way we can still see the animation instead of them appearing instantly.

Oh yeah i guess that makes sense. It is probably what they meant. From what I've seen the gurus saying it seems that it can be automatic.

I personally thought this was a box for decorating the Winterfest tree, not house decorations, but I'll take what I can get, I just hope it is customisable even if it has to be sim initiated.
  • I know it is unlikely but I'm trying to be hopeful? We've lost out on quite a few features from previous releases and so they have to give us something? :)

The TS3 Version was very complicated to use. I'm hoping that they have placed it within the game itself so we have it from the start. Grant said changes are coming to the neighborhoods.

Yes, that would be awesome, the TS3 version was rather finicky and more than once I had to redo stuff as I placed it on the wrong "level".

We already have festivals with CL, so I don't see them adding more festivals, seasonal or otherwise, into the game. Seasons will add celebrations at home like Harvest Day.

True while the seasonal lot marker was brought in as part of the seasonal festival lot, the lot marker could be placed and used on any lot including residential. So you didn't have to use it for festivals.

Unlike TS4 festivals you could choose the objects placed:

I understand that, but I think they have given us public festivals so that is checked off the list. I don't see them doing a repeat of things they have already done in this version. The "festivals" that come with Seasons are meant to be celebrated at home with family and friends.

Having festivals is not the same thing as having a lot marker. One of the gurus tweeted that we'd have various options for automation and control, so there's still hope:

I know with EA's history it is risky but this does make me hopeful, :)
