Slight derail, but this is soooo important. My sister has been playing Sims on and off since Sims2 and just cannot remember to keep her sims moods decent and the needs up. If you can't maintain needs your sims just have one crisis after another.
I never had a problem with that in Sims 3 and 4, because after the Sims learned to not block doorways for eachother (in 1 and 2 you should always build two doors to every room) it's so... easy.
The one thing that still gets me is that the "waiting in line" mechanic for the fridge from Sims 3 has been removed so if one sim is hungry and another is just then opening the fridge door, they go all "crap, can't do that!".
So just go (if you're in a hurry for school or work): Sim 1: Bathroom - Leftovers, and the other Leftovers - Bathroom in the que.
