- SimmervilleSeasoned AceI loved TS2, and the animations seems a bit more dynamic/natural than in later editions, but I think lot of our love for that game is colored by the fact that we came from TS2 which was quite flat and static. Sims did not age, we could not zoom into them, objects could only be watched from 4 set angles. The jump to TS2 was marvelous, I recall I spent weeks just fantasizing about getting this close to my sims. It was like entering a completely new era - which it certainly was.
Not ditching TS2 in any way, but I wonder if we would praise these nice details as much if they belonged to TS3 that came at a point when we were used to the new dimensions? I think the jump from TS1 to TS2 was miles bigger than the later jumps. - Peapod79New SpectatorI loved this video. Thing is, he could probably do another with 50 more things... TS2 was the best game by leaps and bounds. TS3 made some improvements with customization but lacked some of these smaller details. TS4 is basically a 1.5 instead of an actual 4.
- atreya33Seasoned AceI loved those little details. Kids hugging parents when they come back from work, children dancing on parents feet, actually using cupboards,...
I played sims 2 so much, I sometimes forget sims 4 doesn't have these details. I think 'oh, I missed the child giving a spontaneous hug just now' and then I remember I haven't seen that in sims 4 ever.
The little cut scenes were also very nice. Every time a sim in sims 4 is having a baby I expect that little video to play...
I hope if we ever get a sims 5, this level of little details will be included again. - Admiral8QNew Spectator6. The Sims 4 "Magical Pizza". Lol!
9. We need spiral stairs, dagnabit!!!!
13. Hilarious, getting stuck between the toy blocks. I'm pretty sure that was patched, but now I'm going to have to try that!
24. The sim actually looking at you, that is cool. Very minor detail, but cool!
27. A child running away from home autonomously. Interesting.
28. An actual chess game, a neet detail.
35. I guess for gaming on the computer, they changed all to online type games like on cell phones these days.
40. This is one that annoys me, they don't run up or down the stairs.
49. Hair moving, yes, that would make detail that I would like. I wonder if anyone made a mod for that already?
50. I suppose the cell phone ringing is kind of like a 'modern' alarm clock. Though since it's not a real item in-game, it can't be smashed, heh heh!
I'm totally subscribing to onlyabidoang. Thanks for sharing this. :) "beville;c-17413365" wrote:
Yeah it's ashame how far the sims have fallen. I don't see the sims 5 doing any better especially if it's the same crew's that work on the sims 3 and 4. See how much they wanted to thank their Loyal fans with this wonderful hot tub for the 20 th anniversary. ?
I don't think it's the crew, but the people upstairs with the clipboards telling them what they can and can't do.- Fenris321New Spectator

I agree. I think it's all *push* *push* push* to make a deadline. - Admiral8QNew SpectatorHonestly, I can't see myself ever being interested in a Sims 5. Like Sim City 4, when they came out with Sim City 5, I checked it out, but meh.
If a Sims 5 came out, it would be starting from scratch again. For Sims 4, the packs are great over-all, and the mod community has done an awesome job. Someone even made a tiny mod where the pendulum on the grandfather clock swings back and forth, lol!
Just yesterday I found a mod that adds more dance moves (animations), and even romantic slow dancing. So yeah. (I haven't added the slow dancing mod yet. I prefer to add one at a time. Test it out first, make sure there are no problems.)
Apparently there is a mod there also that makes kids behave more like... well, more like kids.
Whatever was in Sims 2, could be incorporated into Sims 4. Sims 2 being an old game now, in 4 it should be a sinch to re-code it. Sell it as a stuff pack, whatever, that's cool. Mods have already done alot of that. Probably why I don't complain much like others. ;)
The recent "Tiny Living" pack has great stuff in it, however, what would have got me to buy it right away would be spiral staircase and ladders. Not the Murphy bed, heh heh! - gosh i miss some of this stuff so much. especially running up and down stairs...
- I will quote what I said in another post:

These little details are one of the many reasons why I choose The Sims 2 over the rest to this day and play The Sims 1 alongside it. I guess Will Wright did great things and it was a mistake for EA to have him not work with them anymore.
Imagine the possibilities and how incredible the series would be today if he was still a part of the team? One can only dream...
There are some details missed in that video, such as:- If a tub is broken and leaking from the second floor, the floor right below it will start spawning puddles. The ceiling will leak.
- Clocks were functional and their dials matched the game time.
- Proposing on the table was possible.
- Throwing food at each other on the table.
- Making a toast while eating.
- Sims get sick while eating burnt food. Burning food doesn’t exist anymore in The Sims 4... it only comes out “poor quality”. It doesn’t define if it’s burned or if it’s just bad quality.
- Sims can go on a short limo trip after their wedding. If you have Bon Voyage installed, you can plan a honeymoon overseas.
- If a Sim comes back home after earning a large sum of money throughout their lifetime (yes, the game can calculate how much money a single Sim has earned through their job), they will feel proud and start raising their hands congratulating themselves. They can also get a memory.
- Genes actually worked properly...yes. Dominant and recessive genes existed. Greater offspring can show genes from grandparents, etc.
- Extensive family tree.
- When a Sim engages or is wed, you can see the ring on their finger.
- Slobs eat messy, fart and burp often.
- Growing up well will increase the Sims lifespan compared to Sims who didn’t grow up well. I find it silly that they made vegetarians live longer. That’s entirely anecdotal.
- Different diving animations according to your Sim’s personality.
- Slob Sim can autonomously have a sponge bath at the nearest sink.
- The Sims 2 is the only game that had actual, permanent zombies that you can control.
- The goose interaction.
- Sims who dislike you can not only steal your gnomes, but they can also steal your newspaper and knock over the garbage bin.
- Sims can autonomously look out the window.
- Dogs can autonomously “greet” newspaper girls/boys or mailmen/women.
- The Sims 2: Freeplay added even more with hobbies and interests.
- If you summon the social bunny from having low social needs, and if you summon two - the pink and blue, they will happily start fighting each other...
- How many birthday cake candles present depends on the age of the Sim.
There’s probably still so much more.
I also want to add that if the weather is hot, Sims who are walking on the beach will tip toe because the sand is burning their feet.
Before I forget...

- Admiral8QNew SpectatorThis bothers me.
"Clocks were functional and their dials matched the game time.""
Even if it was every 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or 15 minutes (quarter hours), that would still be cool.
