Stair problems, help

There's an entire "laundry list" of problems they are aware of.

Stairs
repeatedly cooking
autonomously scrapping paintings after completing them
Vampires turning into bat form when you try talking to them

The list goes on...

It would be nice to see them patch the really problematic ones that affect game play the most like stairs and cooking right away. I can easily work around all the other stuff.

Unfortunately, the platform update broke a whole host of things, including many types of staircases. Staircases are still broken

Ah, glad you brought this up! Funnily enough, I've been having the same issue lately, especially with "fancy" staircases (I've been getting creative as I get better at building). I couldn't figure out the issue--there was nothing in the way or anything at all. I actually got so frustrated with my new staircases never working that I joined this forum to ask about it haha, but I'm glad I did.

In one house I built, the stairs FINALLY started working again (yesterday) when I moved them away from the second floor railing, deleted the floor and re-added the railing, but another house I just ended up building again without fancy stairs... :/

Glad I'm not the only one with this issue, but yeah I hope something gets fixed in regards to it. I don't like teleporting my sims upstairs

I have several families I haven’t played since the platform update that have 2 story houses. I hope they fix it soon, I’m afraid to check on them now. Seems like this should be an emergency fix. Hope it’s retroactively fixed in the next patch at least.

So if the top of your stairs meets up with a railing, try either removing the railing or moving it back one square.

What the heck? Which stairs are having issues? I haven't noticed this in my game, but I guess I use the same stairs all the time.

5 months have passed and they have not fixed it.

I can't see that very well. Are the stairs going straight to a door? Or does that mean just if the floor was removed above the stairs?

I know I have definitely removed space around the stairs, but not the whole floor. I'll have to keep this in mind when I'm building. I'm currently rebuilding everything again and this is an important factor. I'd be so mad if I finished building and my lots weren't usable.

Builders can probably explain it better than I can... I don't build that much in the sims4, if the stairs connect to a room above which have some floor removed, then the stairs will not work. So in the picture the second floor is one room with an open space, that's why workarounds like removing the railing works because that removes the room and it just becomes an area with walls or you can remove the open space as well, but that kinda ruins the build.

Moving the railing works for me 100% of the time when this problem crops up. That's why I suggested it.

And because there is a work-around, that is probably why it is lower on the to-do list.
