The Oakenstead ghost
Something spooky happened in my game today:
I'm currently playing the Oregon Challenge, that requires the challenge household to live on a different lot every week, representing different regions they are passing through. At the moment they are in the Oakenstead marshland -> the same named lot in Willow Creek. Fishing is plentiful here, what allows the sims to save on their trail rations.
One evening one of the settlers fished up a digicam:

Now a digicam is a common enough find when fishing, and I often declared it "disposed evidence" for story-purposes in the past, but this particular camera in this exact place gave me the goosebumps.
Because, you see, I've played this challenge before.
Meet Mr. John Phillips, aspiring cattle baron and... hobby photographer.

John's most prized possession when he set out towards Oregon was his camera. Some would say it was closer to his heart than his wife and children. He cared for it and protected it, until the day the wagon train reached the Oakenstead swampland.

At certain intervals the challenge requires die rolls to see whether the sims cross a river or lose objects while trying. John's goup had such a roll coming briefly after they entered the swamp. They didn't make it and among the things they lost were both the camera and John. For story purposes I decided that the camera fell off first, and that John drowned while trying to rescue it.
Putting the pieces together, have my sims just found John's camera?!

I wonder what photos taken with it will show... John's ghost might still be around (and in fact, I consider bringing in a library copy of John, kill him and pose the ghost so that he will appear in the photos.)
