Thoughts on For Rent and Business & Hobbies and their Issues

Simgirl gives some good information. (Some bugs everyone may experience or  not at all to a few due to whatever stipulation that may cause it)

Personally I haven't had any problems with corruption saves, but as always I make backup saves  in the event of anything happening but that's a rule of thumb with all games.

I have B&H and enjoy it with how customizable businesses are and the lectures/classes that can be done. Tattooting definitely my favorite thing in the pack along with the pottery and candy making.

Sales are always tempting and worth it, but never hurts to wait if you're very concerned about any of the problems. Though I'd always make sure to have a extra save folder put aside .

Yeah, I am usually pretty good with backups for my games too (big updates I back up).

And I do not play with as nearly as many mods as most, and minimal script mods (I think it is literally 2). Mostly tuning files to save sanity.

I have only really been playing Sims 4 since L&D (but mostly since Jan, with a break about March/April), and I am nearly caught up with EPs (missing 5) and GPs (missing 4), and starting to consider buying up 5/9 of them but these two are the buggiest that I have heard.

I also try to catch a sale when I can.

You can throw Adventure Awaits in this category.  I dont know when they began to think adding scripting your own game would be a fun thing to do as a player-  but it does not cut it for me. It's make shift something- that doesnt really end up feeling like the something you originally wanted-  End product shipped as a game dlc just doesn't work. I want it to work.  I want it to fill the massive desire I have to fill in everything that is missing for this game-  but it doesnt. I have faced additional issues crashes things I never seen before with this latest pack. I have barely played because of the issues. Camping is good- aspect was best developed. Reality tv-  where's the camera?  It doesnt really feel like it.  I like the get away but the point does not play out.

Also the endless hours of set up and no play.  For rent-  when it was not infinite loading screens, crashes save corrupts-- the weeks it took to roll back the save,  starter three new saves,... all the work I did for the multi family lots-  its like 5 houses in one-  all gone-- all of the many-  because its on corrupt saves- or I can not use residential rentals or it will burn my newest created save.

Business and Hobbies really doesn't pan out well for more than tattoo parlor for whatever reason.  It just doesn't.  I made a few other things which kind of worked,  many which I was doing anyway with get together club system,  but I just don't think it's as great as it should run.  I wish they could take the time off from putting out packs to make it run more like an entertaining game.  Asking the player to program everything in the game and see if it works kind of bl*ws from my experience.  I spent this weekend trying to fix my game.  Nothing really works. I can build on a vanilla save(goodness willing- even that is temperamental) and hours in cas,  replacing all the missing shoes and hair from the  trivial issue updates- not designed to fix and important issues-  but seems like intended to break any mods related to upcoming of new content. For rent has been broken for 2 years.  My wedding stories was never fixed. I'm drowning in new empty worlds I cant even play because it's one issue or another.

Actually, AA is one reason I made this post, so many activities are not working, I feel I have been beta testing, and finding issues. I just thought if FR and B&H were on top of it the game would really be buggy.

I am also avoiding Wedding Stories because I heard it never worked.

I was wanting to know does B&H have potential to make the corruption happen in saves even without FR?

I’m literally terrified as many are about any save corruption

The world that comes from MWS Tartosa is beautiful and one of my favorite but if you ever enjoyed making and having weddings,  dont get this pack,  because it actively ruins them for good and you can't get base game weddings back.  My work around was only to have vacation weddings where all of them were trapped on a lot (can't leave the bride or groom) and all guest -  just elope at some point on the vacation.  Sad.  I realized you could make with the new pack a destination weddings,  but that should have been a feature with my wedding stories and I dont feel like acting like a computer programmer making a customer venue and event. I dont like the direction these packs are going.  it takes the joy out of playing.  Feels like we are doing the job of the game creator,  instead slapped with the bigger dlc price.  Tattor parlor,  and camps should have been game pack dlc. all these setting up should be applied to broken dlc of the past and multi-fuctional lots should be a free base game update. I gather part of the problem they are having is trying to lock some universal features behind a paywall.

So...from what I understand, corruption is much more likely if a player uses mods, depending on what kinds of mods they are, what they effect, and how updated they are kept. Of course, it's happened to console and non-mod users too, but the risk is much higher with mod use. I think that the age of the save file and how bogged down it is can be a factor as well.

I've seen discussions particularly about lots and if the lot type matches the build you put on it, or what it's labeled as in the gallery when downloading it into a differently labeled lot in the game. There was something about switching apartments around without moving Sims out first, or making certain settings beforehand, something like that, could cause corruption of a lot. 

I don't have either of those packs because I'm too scared For Rent will lay waste to my game, and I was side-eyeing Businesses and Hobbies since it also has new multi-function lot types. I also haven't gotten Adventure Awaits. Seeing everyone else's bug reports for the last year and a half put the fear in me, lol. It's a wonder I got the Royalty pack. But I'm starting to get over it.

I don't think I'll ever get For Rent, that seemed to cause the most problems, so much so that they altered one of the cheats that increases the number of apartments you can have in the game. It's a lot less now, so I've heard. But I think I might get Adventure Awaits down the line, I don't think that one has too many issues, and I do really want the tattooing and CAS in Businesses, but I'll wait until maybe it's half off since I'll only really be using about half the pack. I'm not entirely sure yet, because I like not having all the packs and giving my game some breathing room. 

I'd be really interested to see what anyone else has to say about it all. 

I think they patched base game weddings back a few years ago, so you can choose them if you don't enjoy micromanaging the MWS ones 😁
