And this is why I just cut out the middle man, so to speak. When sims become parents, they also lose any smarts they may have had. They aren't capable of taking care of themselves for the most part, and certainly not taking care of little ones. And what's with their need to go and WATCH the toddlers all the time?! They don't do anything, just stand there and LOOK at their offspring. Its pointless.
I make sure there is plenty of food in the fridge, so the bundle of joy can help him/herself. The parents are allowed to interact with them for socials and bathtime. That's it. No high chairs in any of my houses, ever. Like it was said, avoid them like the plague (like many other objects sims obsess over). I've saved myself plenty of frustration by just keeping the caretakers busy with their own things, and taking care of the toddlers myself.
In defense of these Sim parents who lose their brains upon becoming parents --- that's not simply a game thing. It can be overwhelming, at first, until a person gets the feel for things. LOL
As for the parent watching, they are just obsessing over this little miracle they managed to create.
I guess that's true :D They should be over the obsessing, though, after the fourth one
But honestly, I find it easy to take care of the small ones without the parents meddling. Sounds awful maybe, but its just easier. I keep the toddlers busy with developing their skills ( @LadyLana1 had some good tips further up), don't use the high chair for meals, and the rest should be a walk in the park. For the easiest time, "Independent" is the way to go. They can use the potty straight away, and they love spending time on their own. Haven't had triplets yet, but I had no problems with twins, maxing out all their toddler skills and getting ready to age up to child.
At least I found a way that suits my playstyle, its not everyone's style, though :)
