The acting career in Sims 3 was a rabbit hole career. the acting career in Sims 4 is an active career that from that sixty second staged trailer looks very detailed and fun. I think it's safe to assume in this case that one is clearly better than the other. But who knows, maybe I'm wrong, perhaps that rabbit hole career from Sims 3 really is the better feature compared to 4's iteration.
The Sims 4 acting career may be better than all the past iterations, but is it worth $40 for 1 career, 1 world and a fame mechanic? That's the question. In the past we got more content for paying less.
I'd much rather get 3 really in depth game features than 30 features I wish were more fleshed out. To me, depth = content, more depth means more content I'm getting. Main reason why I prefer Sims 4 over 3.
Me too, which in fact is why I still prefer Sims 3 over 4. Shall we restrain from turning this into yet another comparison thread?
(I agree about the actor’s career being mostly rh was a let down by the way, though it also contains acting out in the open, but not with an actual stage)
P.s. And what @MidnightAura says. If it will be all checklists again and long, repetitive animations, I don’t even know if I’ll prefer that to a rh.

The ratio of singers who get to the point of being represented by an agency and get to record albums is very small compared to the number of singers out there. Not everyone makes it big or even average. Most struggle.
As for a real career, if the info is telling them that players don't use the interactions for singing/music that are already provided, why would they expand on it? It would be, to them, throwing good money after bad. Why make a greater mistake when you can try something else that more players might be interested in?
Where is the info saying not many people played with music/singing? If they're talking about the Sims 4, people probably don't use singing/music because there's no consequences to any of it. The most you can do with singing is win a karaoke contest. As far as other instruments, there's no dedicated venue for your sims to perform, and the entertainer career is just a generic rabbit hole career with nothing special about it. Both of these could have been improved with this pack. Not choosing to improve them because players didn't play them enough is foolish.
Firstly, I said if, so calm down.
Secondly, they rely on the telemetry thing to make some decisions. So if it says you
are not using the music career or busking, why would they expand it?
That's just common sense.
For the same reason they did toddlers after all. If telemetry tells you people aren’t playing it, wonder why that is and improve the feature. Don’t remove it.
