Sul sul, everybody.I'm thinking about having a Sim complete a university degree for the first time, and I have a few questions about the experience.I'm going to turn aging off so he can complete his degree slowly, and still have time to enjoy life outside the classroom. I might have him take only one or two classes each term. I'd also like to have him live in a dorm. I started a "throwaway" save so I could get used to the gameplay before I started with my "real" Sim. The game spawned a really unappealing set of dormmates, so my daughter and I spent some time transforming them into a fun and quirky cast of characters. I know I can't bring them into another save and have them live in the dorms unless I play all of them and send them to university, but I wondered what will happen if we customize the student body in our "real" save.Will my Sim's dormmates change every term, or will he see all (or most) of the same students every time he starts a new term? I'm not planning on having him spend much, if any, time between courses, if that makes a difference. As much fun as I have creating new characters, I'd rather not have an entirely new supporting cast each time.Do any of you have any experience with this? Thanks, in advance.

@Astro I was afraid that would be the case. I suppose I can change my headcanon to reflect the fact that in Simworld, students change dorms, etc. every term instead of every year, the way they do in the universities I'm familiar with. I suppose if I especially like some of the dormies, I can add them to My Households and save them to my Gallery so they're available. @rongtudjuuu You gave me a lot of help, and I understood your English perfectly! I think I'll have my Sim take two classes sometimes, so he can take some electives. I'll definitely think about creating some residential lots in Britechester so my Sim's classmates won't change so often. Thanks, to both of you, for your help! They don't all get replaced every term. But they do rotate gradually term by term, as some graduate and new ones come in to take their places.

@MoonlightGraham Not to my knowledge, unless you add them to your household (make them playable).

It's been a while since I played Uni, and when I do I only play one term per rotation. I do play with aging off, and I'm pretty sure NPC students have their own and individual schedule, meaning they have certain term points already, and when their individual score is full, they will graduate. Some students will leave, but I think the majority will move on to the next term. Next trm there might also be new students to replace those who graduated.Added: The only way to control the NPCs would be to make the dorm a residential lot that is played like a dorm - this is how I do it. You can let rooms to NPCs, and the c harm of roommates bringing food, repairing stuff, cleaning etc will still add the dorm flair to your controlled dorm.

@mightysprite That's even better, because it's more realistic. Is there a way to discover how close a dormie is to completing their degree?

@mightysprite That's a shame. I remember "what's your major?" and "what year are you in?" being the classic icebreaker questions when university students met "in my day" (which wasn't THAT long ago!). It would be cool to find out how far along their educational journey a Sim is when you Ask About Degree.

@rongtudjuuu It looks like you've got a good plan for enjoying University life. I don't think I could manage five student Sims at once... :smile:

@Simmerville Your idea about turning the dorm into a residential lot sounds intriguing. I like the fact that the dorm vibe is still present, including roomies doing quirky things. Although, I've heard the dormies seem to have access to unlimited servings of Lobster Thermidor, Roast Chicken, and White Cake. I remember the cuisine in my university dorm being more along the lines of Microwave Ramen Noodles, Cheap Mac & Cheese, and Disgusting Store-Brand Beverages.

I'll resurrect this thread with another question.

Suppose I have a University student in a playable household who is currently enrolled in classes. If I rotate away from the student's household to play another one, will she go to classes, or be penalized for skipping them? I'd like her to be in good standing when I rotate back around to her.

It works best if you do a whole term before rotating away. And then don't sign up for another term until you rotate back. They do participate in school when unplayed, but not well.

That's what I was afraid of. I don't want her academic progress to suffer, but I'm also worried about what mischief a few of my other households might get themselves into if I leave them alone for that long!
