If anyone was curious:
This how long each life stage for my merfolk is in comparison to their human counterparts. I went in and checked the numbers. When I saw that the days broke 3,000-4,000😅 for the life stages, I had to update things. These are the metrics I cam up with.
- The Reef Merling Life Stage lasts 630 days.
- In comparison, The Human Child Life Stage lasts 126 days.
- The Reef Merboy/Mergirl Life Stage lasts 875 days.
- In comparison, The Human Teen Life Stage lasts 175 days.
- The Reef Merman/Mermaid Life Stage lasts indefinitely.
- In comparison, The Human Young Adult Life Stage lasts 294 days.
- In comparison, The Human Adult Life Stage lasts 252 days.
- In comparison, The Human Elder Life Stage lasts 116 days.
The Merlings in this image are the identical twins Dylan and Zephyr, Lir, and Kylen. The Merboy is Alex.
As for the age of the merlings, here's the order from oldest to youngest:
- Kylen Kailani: Merling with the Red Tail.
- Lir Maelstren: Merling with the Green Tail.
- Dylan and Zephyr: Identical twins with Blue Tails.
At this point in the story, I would say that the twins are very new to the pod. That doesn't mean they are newly born in the pod. The scale of time for my merfolk is pretty significant, and they are going to be my slowest aging sims in my game.
Alex would have matured into a merboy before Kylen, and the twin brother he lost, were born. In the past, Kylen did have his own twin brother named Rylan. I started pretending he passed away in an undersea encounter with a shark or some kind of undersea accident... 😅 When Reef and Sarah had twins, I admit I couldn't think of what I would do with a second set. I also wanted Dyl and Zeph's twin status to be more unique.
If you want to see more of what I've done to organize my merfolk, their custom stats, and extra lore bits, I created this discussion to help me organize my ideas and share the exposition that wouldn't be as great in the story but still relevant to things in the story.
