Just out of curiosity what is the rating of The Sims 4 in different countries and how does the rating system work. In New Zealand (I think Australia is the same) the Sims 4 is rated M(16). This is the exact same rating the first Sims game had 22 years ago. Our rating system works like this:G= General - Anyone can watch or play. Usually with this rating the content is aimed for kids.PG = Parential Guidance - Again anyone can watch or play, but younger children may need an older one nearby. Usually the content is for the whole family: kids and adults, but not for little children.M = Mature - Usually has a age of 16 attached. The age is a recommendation not a requirement. Content usually has themes not appropriate for children.R = Restricted - Will have an age of 13, 16, or 18 attached. Anyone below the stated age should not be watching. Germany, same as already mention. Just a tiny explation. To get an 18 that game must be really violent and brutal. Only a few games, music and films aren't allowed, they do belong there for legal reasons, which glorify violence or support breaking the laws. Times can changes and some illegal are now legal. The system does oriented how children can see the differences between the fiction and reality. They can play alone, but in general it's recommended that a parent is with them to explain what a younger child could disturb. Sims isn't much violent, you see a smoke cloud when they are fighting. Alcohol has another name. Basically every questionable isn't visible. So there are actually no reason to get a higher rating for sims.
