What really happened to Bella Goth is simple. The Maxiods created a Bella, gave her a death token (which means she can not actually be resurrected since that actually deletes her file) She was dead and gone for good in the TS2....that is actually what happened. The Bella in Strangetown is not her...therefore her story actually ended when they killed her off with a death token. Anything else is just a farce and not worth investigating. lol
Assuming one thinks of the various Goths as one and the same, the order is: Sims3 (they are kids), Sims 1 (Cass is a child and no Alexander), Sims4 (all present and accounted for, sir), and Sims2 (Bella is gone, Cass is adult, Mortimer is elder, Alex close to becoming teen)
I read somewhere in the Sims2 forums (or a link from there) that Maxis goofed up so concocted the disappearance. There is a somewhat complex procedure that I learned about there by which she may be brought back. Each step must be done carefully or you loose her again. Tried it, and in my Ultimate Collection version she is back with Morty and they are expecting child # 3.
