Because South America, Central America, Western Europe and Eastern Europe are classified as separate regions in my country, whereas Africa, Asia, etc are not.

Africa and Asia are both well known to be made up of North, South, East, West and Central regions.
Polls are limited to 10 options so they had to be combined if they were going to be in the poll at all.I wasn't suggesting more options, just questioning the lack of consistency.
