To make sims aware of the fire
If they can't know something in front of them is on fire, they're not exactly smarter sims as EA claimed.
What if the sims are too busy running from demon babies and playing musical chairs to know if a fire going on lol
The musical chairs thing hasn't actually been horrible, just mildly annoying at times.
I think its been fairly horrible. I can't think of a single good reason my family should change seats half a dozen times each during breakfast. "munchie885;12608125" wrote:

Looks like B pudding might TAKE your life. XD
She probably would  LMAO!
Whew! I feel somewhat safer now. Or perhaps in danger of a different sort--he's lovely as well. :D"MarriedSim24;12608128" wrote:

Well, duh. It tells your Sim that his house is already on fire and, possibly HE'S on fire, as well. XD Seriously, the fire alarm OVER the stove in my house didn't go off until my Sim was already in flames.
The stove, the counter, and my sim caught on fire and the alarm never went off. She was quick to use a fire extinguisher and put the fire out though. Is there a delay between when the fire starts and when the alarm goes off?
For me there was. My sim was cooking and just as he finished, the stove caught on fire and immediately caught his arm on fire. While he was flailing and I was clicking the stove frantically, the alarm started going off. I did end up getting him to put it out by clicking on HIM and having him "put himself out" but it was a close call for sure. :p- IRL, a fire alarm doesn't call the firefighters. Perhaps this was their thinking. However, there is no one to call...
- It alerts Sims who are not in the room that there's a fire.
Basically, Sims don't magically know what's happening on the other side of the house. The fire alarm exists to alert them.
Yeah... still useless, unless you're running them purely autonomously or something. "munchie885;12607935" wrote:

I haven't experienced this. What is "musical chairs"?
It's related to the social interactions. For some reason, while sitting and chatting with each other, they'll spontaneously get up and move to a different seat. Many times, they'll all do it at the same time so it looks like they're playing musical chairs. It actually hasn't happened a ton in my games but I don't have a lot of people around all the time. If someone played a very social sim that spends time with a lot of friends, it could be really annoying.
Grant said yesterday (or the day before) when he was hanging around the forums that it's something they'd worked on for quite awhile and he thought it was mostly "fixed" but I believe he said he would be checking on it.
Except it looks SUPER crazy. Sims will be in the middle of a conversation and then simultaneously get up and move to another seat and continue talking like nothing happened.
Ohhh so that's what it is! I find it super annoying- Leo_Gruen11 years agoRising TravelerI think part of the musical chair problem is that the game picks where a sim should do something at the time the action is queued and then re-assesses periodically, but it never seems to re-assess the initial queued location for future actions. So if your sim, say, queues up "tell a joke" while standing, then finds an available seat they will stand up to tell the joke again then discover they can, again, sit because there is now a vacant seat... that they were just in.
- I'd hate to be burned to a crisp without knowing it.
- Why buy a fire alarm?
Well to scream bloody murder at you of course! "Leo_Gruen;12608415" wrote:

I suspect something like that, as well, but haven't really been able to pinpoint it (i.e., I haven't specifically noticed when they switch from one topic to another right after changing seats, if that makes sense). But, I also, as mentioned, haven't had the issue come up a lot yet.- When the fire alarm went off in my sim's house, the sims actually ran OUTSIDE. What a contrast to their usual reaction- running straight towards the fire with their arms waving manically in the air.
