- Well to be fair in my experience with The Sims 2, it exists to just wake up my sims and have them catch on fire in a mere amount of seconds just by running through or standing directly on the fire..
- It might be to alert the player that there is a fire to deal with if the player has a large household to watch.

To make sims aware of the fire
If they can't know something in front of them is on fire, they're not exactly smarter sims as EA claimed.
What if the sims are too busy running from demon babies and playing musical chairs to know if a fire going on lol
The musical chairs thing hasn't actually been horrible, just mildly annoying at times.
But it's been happening enough to distract sims from putting out the fires that could potentially kill them...
Not any of my sims. Did someone post a thread about it here? I haven't seen anything like that."ebuchala;12607695" wrote:

I haven't experienced this. What is "musical chairs"?"SweetieKaye;12607837" wrote:

It's related to the social interactions. For some reason, while sitting and chatting with each other, they'll spontaneously get up and move to a different seat. Many times, they'll all do it at the same time so it looks like they're playing musical chairs. It actually hasn't happened a ton in my games but I don't have a lot of people around all the time. If someone played a very social sim that spends time with a lot of friends, it could be really annoying.
Grant said yesterday (or the day before) when he was hanging around the forums that it's something they'd worked on for quite awhile and he thought it was mostly "fixed" but I believe he said he would be checking on it."shadowcat85;12607799" wrote:

I think this was the intention."munchie885;12607935" wrote:

Except it looks SUPER crazy. Sims will be in the middle of a conversation and them simultaneously get up and move to another seat and continue talking like nothing happened.
Yep. It would be funny it weren't annoying. I haven't figured out yet what triggers it, either. I thought perhaps it was between social queues but I'm not sure.
BTW, what's with the new creepy avatar? What happened to your lovely blond fellow?- I think it triggers the sprinkler system and to make the sims leave as my sim had a fire start and first the alarm went off, my sim ran outside which was a first for any sims game I ever played, and then the sprinkler system came on and put the fire out. The alarm shut off when the fire was out and the sims immediately came back in.
Now I would guess if you have no sprinkler system, then it may alert sims in the house to the fire to put it out. Like the sims in that video. But the first thing i added to my sims houses was the sprinkler system and fire alarm - so have not tried a house without them. Only played 2 houses so far and both I built. But I have not experimented with it all. Also that is the only fire I have had in my game so far so have nothing to compare it too. My other household learned to cook while running around all the hoods and just barbequing - so by the time he cooked at home he was already a good cook. "munchie885;12607958" wrote:

Looks like B pudding might TAKE your life. XD"ebuchala;12607672" wrote:
Well, duh. It tells your Sim that his house is already on fire and, possibly HE'S on fire, as well. XD Seriously, the fire alarm OVER the stove in my house didn't go off until my Sim was already in flames.
The stove, the counter, and my sim caught on fire and the alarm never went off. She was quick to use a fire extinguisher and put the fire out though. Is there a delay between when the fire starts and when the alarm goes off?
