I like themes or names that have a meaning tied to my sims personality.
In my drifter save that I'm playing, I just randomly named the founder Anna, then when she had twins, I named the girl Antonia and the son Nikolas. When Antonia got pregnant, I had decided to name all the kids in the drifter challenge "A" names. So Nikolas is the sole blood-child that doesn't bare an "A" name.
In House 008, we had 3 adopted children, and I thought to change their names to an A name, but I always have a hard time renaming adopted sims. It feels very unnatural to me.
My drifters have given birth to 13 sims and 12 are A named.
I'm running low on A names, LOL, so anyone want to toss some my way, I'm game for that. I might have to take to google, if things get real desperate.
Now, I wish I had given the last name more thought. I didn't think hard enough about carrying the Schmitt last name 23 generations.
One of my Sims had twin boys I named Ashton and Albert. (Albert is my brother's name.) One of my female Sims is named Allyson. There are some good baby name lists available if you get stuck (I used to have an app on my iPhone because I'm a wannabe writer who looks for unique names for characters but it's no longer supported with the new operating system).
