What's Your Process for Naming Your Sims?

I pick my sims names based on a combination of things. First is their species. For example, my aliens and my half aliens all have space themed names. My current ones are Apollo, Orion, Luna, Nova, and Cosmo. My humans get normal, but still nice, modern sounding names. I'm not sure what I'd do for my vampires yet. I only have one and she wasn't born a vampire, so she has a normal name. But I imagine they might get old fashioned names or vampire related names. I also sometimes name my sims based on their heritage. For example, one of my couples spends a lot of time in Selvadorada, so when they had a daughter, I named her Rowan--which is a type of tree--as Selvadorada is a jungle. Mostly, though, I just keep a list of names I like on my phone and every time a child is born or I make a new sim, I just choose a name from the list.

I do the same with my aliens. I created an alien family in one save; Ron (Orion) and Andi (Andromeda) were supposed to pose as humans and just observe, but one thing led to another and they ended up with two children, Sirius and Starr. I also have a Sim in my library who I saved when he was pregnant from alien abduction; in my main save he had a daughter Vela (which is the name of a constellation I got off Wikipedia) and a son Castor (he got abducted a second time). Maybe I'll use him in my Fame save and see how his kids turn out.
