Bed sides will not let sims sleep

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.96.397.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Have two sims try to sleep in the same bed
What happens when the bug occurs? The bed will not allow one sim to sleep on the bed, unassigns and reassigns sides for each sim and I have to somehow get each side assigned again and keep switching it every time they sleep
What do you expect to see? Sims go to sleep in bed together without saying they cannot sleep because there is another sim
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Latest patch

My married sims will not sleep in the same bed, each time the bed any bed... takes whichever side one sim sleeps on and makes it the same side the other side tries to sleep on. It unassigns then reassigns bedsides to only the right side and tries to make each sim sleep on that side, and when both try to sleep one cannot as the side is occupied sometimes manually choosing sides help sometimes it doesn't. But it will not stay, the bed sides will always reset and make me have to struggle for a couple of minutes to get both sims to sleep on both sides.

  • @DivineOnyx How high is their relationship ? Does it matter which bed you use ? Could you post a picture of your setup ?

Have you tested other Sims to see if it's limited to that couple or a general issue ?

  • @crinrict I tried it again, the issue was an item, the sims in question never had the object come above their head as it blocking the way to the bed, it always mentioned the other sim as the reason. I have had issues with items blocking the way before but this is the first time it has ever said it was the other sim as the problem instead of it being the pathing problem. I loadecd up an old save, the same save and a new save to check, but it was once I moved the item, that it finally worked. This was confusing, to say the least. I'm not sure why it didn't show the pathing bubble but instead showed the other sim. So I took it as the other sim instead of the pathing issue. The issue is solved. Thank you for reminding me to test it out on other sims to see if anything helped.

@DivineOnyx I'm guessing that the blocking item allowed one side to be usable but not the other so when they try to go to bed, they use the free side. If there's already a Sim in the bed, it's the Sim that blocks the other Sim from using the bed.

    Just a theory though :D
