Newly Broken/Obsolete Game Mods

New Malware Threat

NEW: April 7: Malware via a mod that is downloaded as only a text file that contains a link.

Known cases:

  • "S4 CAS Tools" on Nexus from user fubruss (the real mod is on Mod the Sims, from the late CmarNYC, dated 18 March 2023)
  • “Loading Screen Randomizer” on Nexus from user fubruss (the real mod is on Mod the Sims, from Tesuto , dated 9 January 2024)

Do NOT follow the links in the text files. Do NOT download other files or follow links from this user. No legitimate mod download will EVER consist of only a text file (a file ending in .txt).  

If you downloaded either of these, delete them NOW and run a virus scan. NOTE: This malware does NOT require that you run the game for it to install itself, and is not what ModGuard is designed to detect and stop.

Broken/Outdated

NOTE: Because an issue that many modders updated for in an earlier patch is now fixed at EA’s end, many mods will throw (mostly harmless) LEs and need updating. Expect a lot of mod updates and hotfixes. A second issue this patch is a new UI feature, which means some (not all) UI mods are broken.

  • world-copying mods, including Zerbu’s Copy Worlds – Note: as always for this category of mod, if you remove these mods, those saves won’t be fully usable, and all such mods had previous known issues.

      NOTE: A creator not being listed here does not make it okay to go ask if they’ve cleared their mods yet. Some creators simply don’t do mod clearing announcements, and others need time to investigate or have no time available. Mod clearing has also never been a guarantee that mods aren't broken. Instead of annoying creators, back up your Saves folder and learn how to check for broken content.
