CC Suddenly Disappeared in Game
I was playing my game last night with no issues, including all cc and mods working fine. I have several expansion/game/stuff packs and all of my cc is compatible with what I own. I did download a character from the gallery early last night and it gave me a message in CAS saying several items she was wearing were removed because I do not own parts of the game compatible with them -fine by me- so I edited her and had no issues for many hours after that.
I tried to go on again today and the game wouldn't start up. I updated and repaired through origin which then allowed the game to open. I then did the usual manually enabling mods/scripts and restarting. When I restarted the game, to my horror, none of the mods or cc I have were there. When I went in to one of the saves, it showed me an error message (that many have received before) saying I do not own the items, some have been removed entirely or replaced etc.
I proceeded to do some troubleshooting including removing any recent mods, removing all subfolders of cc in my mods folder, clearing the cache, restarting the game, repairing the game, checking out different saves, removing the newly downloaded character from the gallery, creating a new mods folder with the cc and none of these have worked.
Any advice would be much appreciated because I don't think I can stomach rebuilding every save and character I have.
Thank you so much in advance.
@notgalgadot Please move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto the desktop. When the game loads, a clean folder will spawn with no content. Start a new save (no need to spend much time on it; this is just for testing) and make sure all the expansion/game/stuff packs you own are loading.
If all your content is present, download a new copy of one cc item you're familiar with and add it to the new Sims 4 folder, then load the save and see whether it appears in-game. If it does, add a few of your old cc items and see whether they show up as well. As long as everything works, you can keep adding content and testing; leave your saves for last once you know all your other content loads properly.
If your content stops showing up, stop at that point and let me know where you are in the process. Please also let me know whether your computer runs Windows or macOS.
