I'm using obscurus unlocked sliders for kids and whenever i try to save the edits i make to my child sims the results doesn't save and it reverts back to vanilla. does anyone know if this a current b...
I encountered this bug after a recent patch undid all the CAS modifications I did to my MerChildren with MCCC. It sent me on the path to find a slider cause I thought MCCC simply wasn't supporting what I found. I think I can honestly say this might be a bug with the game.
While I am not the creator of this mod, I was able to update this mod by running it through the updated mod software recommended by Sims 4 Studio. The software updated the slider and I dabbled in trying to create my own preset when it didn't work. Unfortunately, I don't think creating my own preset would change anything.
Here are screenshots of my testing.
The Latest Screenshot before the Recent Update that fixed the Pregnant Looking Child Sim bug.
What my twins looked like when I reloaded the game. Tested thing with Zephyr. The twins in my game share identical genetics making them 100% identical twins in game. Is helpful cause if I update the appearance of one, the other should be unchanged. I used Zephyr for the test.
I turned testingcheats true on and then went in to modify in CAS.
Zephyr appeared to have reverted in CAS as well.
I did my modifications using the Slider I updated. I admit the slider works much better than the MC CAS copy/paste route. I was never using Slider until I looked for alternatives to my methods. I intentionally try to keep my mods to a minimum.
Exited CAS. Zephyr returned to what he looked like before.
I went back into CAS and selected a Vanilla Preset from EA.
Exited the game and.... Zephyr reverted back.
Went back into CAS, and the EA preset changes still appeared in CAS.
Conclusion, this bug is functionally like the Love Stuck Bug with Gallery Sims. Changes made using EA files will remain in CAS but won't show in live mode. All routes with mods simply don't work or get saved in CAS. MC CAS Copy/Paste that I was originally using and functional sliders in CAS. No changes remain after returning to live mode. MC CAS does not do anything in Live Mode. Basically, you can't copy a sims appearance from another sim and paste it to a child.
How the Obscurus Slider I updated is currently working in game:
I wish I found a work around, but this has me stumped. Long after the time spent in Sims 4 Studio, Blender, and etc. I couldn't even figure out a work around with mods. My modding skill is extremely low right now though.
Normally, when I share something regarding a bug, I try to share something that might help.
I hate to say it but this persists into a new save and a new save with lovestruck disabled. I was hoping to do scenes of my twins in my next few chapters, but they effectively look like they gained weight now and won't look like they did in older scenes.
yea I haven't played since the update cause I don't want to save. All the children in the game turned skinny, there isn't any point editing all of them back to normal since it'll just revert..
It’s possible to create a new save if you want to go into build mode and develop a build for when you get back to playing.
At least, that’s what I intend to do. While I wait for a fix, I have to build a Thrift Store for new SimLit chapters and a build for a MerMay challenge to share with the community. I do not think this bug should prevent doing builds in a separate save that you can transfer through the gallery. I do not believe lots from the gallery would bug an older save if they are transferred between saves that way.
Personally, I won’t be able to progress my actual gameplay for my story like this. While just a visual bug, inconsistent appearances of Sims could disrupt a reader’s immersion in my story. It definitely would mess with me. I have not saved over anything while testing things.
Child sliders aren't currently updatable by modders -- and won't be unless EA changes game code to make them possible again. Given that they seem to have been resolving game bugs with toddler and child appearance, I'm not anticipating that that's going to happen. You might just need to get used to not having them.
I couldn’t fix this. I’ve also checked in with deaderpool cause I was curious about the way I changed the child body shapes. It turns out that I was glitching their appearance with MCCC and doing something that shouldn’t have been possible. It just so happens that the recent patch “fixed” the bug I stumbled on without knowing it.
As for the Slider, I did get it working in CAS but no changes update in live mode. I would say it’s still broken.
To repeat what luthienrising has already expressed in their list of broken mods, is that using sliders could effect your ability to save your game.
The only thing I would definitely say was a bug is the fact that the 3 default presets from the vanilla game can’t be updated in CAS. When I experimented with everything, mods and no mods, the one consistent thing was that physical changes to child sims in CAS after using the cheat CAS.FullEditMode revert after returning to live mode. I do believe that there is a legitimate bug with child sims.
However, after Deaderpools answer to my questions and my own tinkering with slider mods, I do not think the sliders will be working again anytime soon. More specifically, you might be able to get Sliders working in CAS, but the changes will not update in live mode.
Additionally, I suspect you could risk your save trying to use these mods if what I’ve read is correct.
GabiCruz2 I hope the details help summarize things.
