Is There A Way to Fix A Sim That's Corrupted? (And, No, I'm Not Talking About Morally Bankrupt)

Hi, please forgive me if I have posted this in the wrong forum.

I have been having a few issues with an updated mod and sought help through the mod creator's discord. After a time, three of us figured out that it wasn't the mod malfunctioning so much as it was my game save that was corrupt. So, I created a brand new game save and made a new copy of the same family. Only to find the same issue cropping up. In all fairness, I was having three problems, two of which weren't problems any more. Just the crucial gameplay part of this mod.

I created a new Sim in a new game save and ran a few tests, that checked out. Then I tried the same technique in the previous game save and it didn't work, even though the Sim was also brand new.

I again, sought help over at Discord. Word came back that it's likely the Sim, itself. I'm crestfallen, to say the least. I first recreated him from Sims3 and brought him into Sims4. So, I went back to a copy of him from my library and installed him anew into a brand new game save. All seemed well until he reached his teen hood. He was a Notable Newcomer and is pushing the edge of Rising Star. In the mod I'm using that augments GF, he's made it to Superstar and can now perform concerts — except that he can't as the original malfunction won't allow it. (Basically, I'm almost back to where I started — again!)

To learn that it's my Sim, is devastating. Is there a way to correct this problem, or should I just hang it up and recreated him from scratch in CAS?

Please, and thank you, in advance.

  • UPDATE: I've got good news. I did a little experiment by pulling my Document Sims 4 folder and starting my game. Then I returned only my Tray and Mods folders. I grabbed the very oldest copy of my Sim in question, and started him out as a teen. I cheated his skills and fame (via rtf mod) and he was booked for a concert. I set that up and he was unable to perform. However, based on an experiment I did yesterday, I quickly used MCCC to set age to YA and then he was able to perform a concert, in fact all interactions regarding said performance were available. Doesn't, thankfully, appear to be my Sim at all. Yay! Just thought I'd share, in case anyone was interested.
  • You might want to delete your cache, cachestr, and localthumbcache.package files and then run a game repair just to clean things up and make the game run a little smoother. To run a repair close the game and go into Origin and right click on the Sims 4 then choose repair.
  • I always delete the localthumbcache file. I've even made copies of the cache file so I can delete that. I don't touch the cachestr file, but I think it's generally empty. I ran the repair option, before I pulled the folder a week or so ago. After several attempts to find the problem with the mod, it turned out to be the game save itself. It was also suggested it may well be my Sim. I pulled my folder to start anew. All appears well. Thank you so much for your response. :D
