I think the Mortem mod by SimRealist deserves a place in this thread.

I have a kinda love-hate relationship with the Grim Reaper. He belongs to this game and I would never want the sims team to get rid of him because of nostalgia, but I don't like him in my own game because I try to play realistic as possible.
This mod is reaally well done. It makes deaths more realistic and you are even able to throw funerals!
