[MOD RELATED] Sims all get same name in CAS

I have two teen sims, and when I entered CAS to look at the new update options, I noticed that neither of the teens' names showed properly. It showed both the teens with their father's name in the bottom left preview bar, and in the edit bar in the top left it showed their names, age, and all other info as whatever non-teen sim I had selected last, whether it was their mother, younger sister, etc. When I exited to live mode, I noticed that the teen boy's name had been changed to his younger sister's name, and the teen girl's name had been changed to her fathers name. It fixed itself when I reloaded the game without saving. It only did this with the teens; the two children and two adults did not have their names affected in any way. I also experienced the parenthood character values glitch before it was fixed, if that relates at all.

This issue appears to be connected to Sims who had custom preferences. (See Solved: CAS infinite loading screen after 23. 07. update - Answer HQ about these.)

Please try the following steps:

Remove all custom preference (likes/dislikes) mods and related mods, including (for now) updated ones, and including those that Zerbu's new mod covers

Remove larger mods that include custom preferences (such as WonderfulWhim, BetterSims, Have Some Personality Please, Paws & Claws)

Delete the localthumbcache file

Back up your Saves folder

Repair the game in the EA App (or do the equivalent fix in Steam, if you're a Steam player).

Restart the game and load up your problem household in CAS

If this works, please let me knkow, and please let me know which preferences-related mods you had, especially if you know which were used on your Sims.

If you're struggling to find all the mods that might be candidates for this, I advise removing any larger mod systems that haven't been cleared for the patch. I don't expect to have time to look at mod lists to help you find candidates.

If you have this issue but have never used mods before, please let me know.

Move your Mods folder to the Desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. Then test the game in a new save.
If it works now check for updates to your Mods and CC. Add it back a little at a time while testing until you have found all that are broken.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Open CAS, switch between Sims.
What happens when the bug occurs? When switching between Sims in Create-a-Sim, the game switches the name and pronouns from one Sim to another; e.g. my sim, Jade Berry, they/them pronouns, has a daughter named Maple Berry (she/her); the game changes the daughter's name and pronouns to her parent's.
What do you expect to see? The sims to retain their own names and pronouns.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. I installed the new Lovestruck expansion pack and went into full edit mode of CAS.

It appears as if the age/gender panel has glitched/doesn't switch between Sims as it should.

After a racing all of my save files and starting fresh now every single time I go into the creative Sim it keeps giving all the Sims the same name I seriously do not know what to do. The game is unplayable. I have done everything I can and sims isn’t doing anything to help any of us. This is outrageous. We had to pay for a brand new pack that we can’t even use and they’re not in a hurry to fix it for anybody.

I couldn't get to CAS in my Sims game, every time I tried it wouldn't load so I had to reset my game. Because of that I was trying to find the problem and then I realized that my sim name is the same as my other sim, completely the same I tried the resetSim Firstname Lastname cheat but that didn't work because the name was there twice. Could someone help me, please

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Typing sims name and giving them pronouns. Clicking for more details.
What happens when the bug occurs? Name becomes a line and pronouns become (/). More details only shows one tab. Only happens when I get sims from Gallery that have CC, sims I get without cc works and making a new sim.
What do you expect to see? The name, pronouns and all 3 tabs.

Please describe the patch or change you made. Updated my game to the latest version (Lovestruck expansion pack).

@walabaloo22 @Terinka1235567 @grantbrandy Could you please try this, which helped the OP of the thread I've moved you into?

Move/drag your Mods folder to your desktop or rename it

Copy over your Saves folder if you want a backup in case you save without CC

Delete the localthumbcache file

Start Sims, and open your save to see if the problem with the names is gone

Copy your mods and CC (but not your old Resource.cfg file) to the new Mods folder

Restart Sims, and reopen your save to see if the problem with the names has stayed gone

Please let me know if that works for you also. If #4 works and #6 doesn't, it's time to do a 50-50 of your Mods folder, and I'd be very interested in finding out what mod it was.

So you have confirmed that the CC is the problem. I suggest that you stop using it until it has been updated or the creator have cleared it for the patch.

I appreciate the help but I’ve done each of these steps several times over and it didn’t help. Sometimes I can get into CAS and sometimes I can’t. I never know when or what method will freeze the game.

@luthienrising I did do this. Unfortunately without my cc and mods the game didn’t even load. I’m just playing the game and slowly rebuilding my world. I’m saving every minute just in case. 😭

For the specific issue of teen names glitching, just having made a fresh Mods folder might fix it, but you still could have other broken mods. Right now, many mods that aren't cleared for the patch should be assume to be broken. Broken/Updated Mods & CC
