Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.58.63.1010
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All expansion packs, all game packs (excluding Jungle Adventure), Laundry Day stuff, Backyard stuff, Spooky stuff, Holiday stuff
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Play a game, save it, and go back to the file. This may be a glitch that solely affects me, however.
What happens when the bug occurs? Once a file is entered again after opening, all sims will be erased from the file and become unplayable.
What do you expect to see? All sims remaining in their respective houses and not disappearing.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure
While I don't 100% know if this is a glitch caused by the most recent patch, it seems to have only been happening recently. When mousing over any reloaded households, the picture will be a loading icon with a flashing blue background. I tried removing my mods, but it didn't seem to improve. When I restored previous versions of the save file, it worked until I exited out and the cycle continues.
this is a known issue caused by an certain adult mod that can't be named. Are you using that one ? I have found it to affect saves even after you remove the mod but haven't found a solution to fix it.
Maybe just putting back the updated version of the mods helps ? Could you try that ?

Hi crinrict. This seemed to be the case. Thank you very much.

Hi @crinrict ,
While I have redownloaded the mod, files still seem to be affected by it and when trying to open up a family to play, they show an error sign and delete themselves. This repeats the cycle of the sims becoming unplayable again. Do you have any pointers?

@MakThePrince I do believe the issue is caused by a mod (but I've found folks that haven't been using that certain adult mod and still have issues). I'm currently unsure which one it is (could be multiple too)
I believe what happens is that the game culls the Sims but leaves the households. Why that happens is anyone's guess. I'm not sure if it's because of removing the mod or just the mere fact that something is loaded with a version.
The issue is old but in the past, removing the mod was enough to fix the issue. Now it doesn't seem to be the case.
Do you have ANY backups that are still intact ?
It would be great to have a list of the mods you are using (please no links or naming of adult mods) as well as your savegame and any backups (borked or not) of it that you still have.
You can PM me the info.EDIT: I made a new info request thread and moved yours into this one.
EDIT EDIT
Merged a few threads @planetaery @Chumpelet for awareness.

Hello @crinrict,
I believe I have identified the problem to be perhaps several outdated mods, following the new Sims patch made this week. I can recover files to restore the culled sims, but until I identify the problem content, they will remain unplayable.
While I'm not sure why sims are getting culled, I think I can confidently identify the problem as mods conflicting with the new patch. I am currently running a lengthy 50/50 test to try and figure out the problem content. I suggest this for anyone else in this thread as well.
I will PM you info as well.
- 11 months ago@crinrict Is it possible to name the mod as I just downloaded a bunch without having used them yet and now my Sims have disappeared/the blue box has appeared. I deleted the SNB mods but I had the custom traits mods in there before my Sims disappeared and they were working fine so I haven't removed them

@PLAYERBRITNEY There's not only one cause of this. You can test "vanilla" to confirm that removing mods brings Sims back: Drag the Mods folder to the desktop, delete the file called localthumbcache, open the game to test, and exit without saving.
To figure out which mod is currently causing this problem, you can do a 50-50 . I don't know of a recently broken mod that causes this, but you can check the lists in Broken/Updated Mods & CC , especially "Previously Broken"
