My sims are greyed out

Hi, so after the patch, I delayed updating because most of the mods I use were not updated. Well I went to play this afternoon and it said I had to connect to the internet in order to play the game. Bummer but I removed my mods folder, updated, updated all the mods that were ready removed the rest. Now everytime I go into my game, my family is greyed out like when they are off the lot, they are not on the lot even though thats where I left them and when I hover over their pictures, it says they are at home, but nowhere to be found. Its very perplexing. I removed the script mods, and now it wont let me into the lot at all. Any help would be appreciated.
