my sims game is completely broken and idk how to fix it. it's none of my mods because it just started happening today. I thought it was the ui cheats I added, but when I removed it, the problem wasn't resolved. I can't click on anything, i can't click on my sims, I can't go into build mode, I can't go into manage worlds. nothing is working. my sim is getting a call and it's just random numbers and I can't answer or decline the call.
Try moving your mods folder to your desktop and start the game. If it starts normally and you are able to make a sim, place them and play, then something in your mods folder is causing the problem. Then you will need to hunt down and remove whatever file is the problem. If you can't do that then, try a game repair through Origin or the App, whichever one you use.
You could also try renaming your "The Sims 4" folder in Documents too. Then the game will create an entirely new user folder for you. It that works, then you can move or copy your saves and tray folders from the old folder to the new one and see if those will work. Finally, copy or move your mods folder and try again. If the problem comes back, then it's something in your mods folder.

@tacoKat To test if it's a mod or CC problem, you'll need to completely remove that folder: Exit Sims 4 then drag your Mods folder to your desktop. Then delete the file called localthumbcache from Document > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. If you think you might accidentally forget to exit without saving after testing, copy your Saves folder to your desktop too, to back it up. Now open Sims 4 and see if you still have the problem. If you don't, you can start the process of figuring out what from your Mods folder was causing it.
my game broke while i was in build mode and i cant click on anything my manage worlds button is gone and when i try and close my game it doesn’t work and i cant press the options menu and idk how to fix it i own a mac btw someone pls help me
@myriahz Do you have mods or CC in your Mods folder? If so, do a "vanilla" test to see if a mod/CC is your problem: Move (not copy) the Mods folder to the desktop (or rename it), delete the file called localthumbcache, open the game to test, and exit without saving.
So, I have this problem too and I did the "vanilla" test and it is something in my mods folder, because the problem stopped. However, I have LOADS of mods and cc. How do I find the file that's broken?
@juliaosims You can start with the lists in Broken/Updated Mods & CC . There *will* be a new list tomorrow, because of a new patch, and many of the mods there will need new updates. The current list will still be available, linked in Mod/CC Issues master post .
