Re: Modded game crashing when travelling

@Bluebellflora Hi, I think I mentioned in my first post, but my first assumption was that mods were breaking the game so I played without. Maybe I should have phrased it differently, but I did create a vanilla save to play in and the crashing persisted. When I thought mods were the cause, I used the 50/50 technique of slowly introducing my files which didn't highlight anything in particular. I repaired the game with no mods installed and still experienced crashes afterwards. MCCC is the latest thing I'm using to avoid losing progress when the game inevitably crashes. But I assure you, I've been playing with mods for years and the first thing I did after a crash was check my LEs, try to recreate the crash, try a workaround and then remove the mods completely to test. Not my first rodeo but it is my first crashing issue that doesn't seem to be fixed no matter what I try.

Hi @YazPlatt Luth from Mod Issues 🙂 The thing with the crashing with travelling and build mode crashes is both definitely something that some mods will do when broken. Can I get you to try one more really deep test? It needs precisely these instructions:

    1. Drag your whole Sims 4 folder from Document > Electronic Arts to your desktop. This will clear out any remaining effects of mods.
    2. Launch Sims 4.
    3. Start with New to test if your issue recurs in a new game. Especially the scenarios you describes earlier.

If that works, start putting old content back:

    1. Exit and copy files out of your old Saves folder into the new Saves folder. Important: Don't just copy the old folder! You want to use the newly created folders.
    2. Launch Sims 4 and use Load to select an older save to test.

Let me know how that goes.

@luthienrising Thanks for the step-by-step. I tried this and thought I'd found an outdated mod (teleport any sim) that could cause the crash so I updated it. My game no longer generates a LE on launch, so that's an improvement. However, just as I got comfortable playing, travelling to different lots etc, my sim was invited to a City Living festival by Mortimer Goth and the game crashed again. The 50/50 process took so long hence my delay in replying, and yet again I have no idea what's wrong. I will admit though, I was unable to replicate the crash without my mods installed but I just got about 1 hour into playing with no crashes so nothing is immediately jumping out to me as the faulty mod. The trend I'm noticing is it happens when I travel though. I am only playing with 1 save at the moment so I don't know if the crash occurs in other save files. I have so many mods/cc that removing the cc would leave the game looking odd to say the least. I did my 50/50 crash tests in a new save with a cc free sim from the gallery. Maybe I'll try removing everything again and testing my active save file vanilla.

@YazPlatt That's some progress! If you ever do get to where you have a culprit mod that doesn't have an update available, please do let me know! There could be something out there that's less common and hasn't ended up reported yet.
