I'm not sure I understand your problem correctly.
You want to see or enter a rental lot, but you can't, right?
Not only rental lots, but also unoccupied houses can only be viewed in the Build/Buy mode. That's by design.
To enter a rental lot in Live mode, you must rent the lot by phone or PC.
I hope this is the answer to your problem.

    The issue is, I tried to move my sim into a rental property, but it will not let me.

    it was working fine, but now even the sims that I had already moved into rental properties cannot get into their homes.

    I'm pretty sure the problem is - as I'm having the exact same issue - the Rental Lot's placed, and the tenants are moved in, but the original poster, and myself, are not capable of starting to play the household from the Manage Worlds screen. You know, how you click the lot you wanna play on and click the bid play button to start playing a household? Well, it's supposed to basically be like that, but when I navigate to the unit I wanna play in, it won't highlight or give me the normal Manage Worlds options.

    @EggHead1022 Are you playing with mods/CC or without? If with, have you tested without? Again, asking because you're in the Mod/CC Issues forum. If you're having this issue on console or in a vanilla save (empty mods folder, localthumbcache deleted), head to Game Issues
