Xbox Simmer here and I personally cannot stand the new changes made to console controls. I have played sims for almost 3 years now and am addicted to the game much like the majority of simmers out there. Building has always been one of my favorite things to do in the game however, now that is simply just not the case. I have almost completely stopped playing the game since the 1/31/23 update to console. The issues I've experienced:
~ Crashes: Every so often my game will randomly crash and some of my progress will be lost. As a simmer who enjoys doing legacy challenges and family gameplay, this makes it extremely frustrating if I have just aged up a sims and lose the progress before I can save.
~ Extreme lag: Before this update, my game ran so smooth. Now especially in Build/Buy mode it lags horribly making it unplayable. Moving my cursor over the catalog at the bottom causes extreme and unnecessary lag making my game freeze and sometimes crash.
~ Controls: Before, the controls were clear and very easy to use. There were no issues controls not functioning as they should or random glitches. Now, the controls are much more difficult to use and create a bunch of glitches or things not even registering as being selected. Also, why was the A button completely replaced with RT?
~ Time: Before, building a lot was like a well-oiled machine. Everything ran smooth and there was just a way to go about things that just made sense and worked so well. Now, building is a complete train wreck. It takes so much longer and is so frustrating. The catalog always being at the bottom of the screen was a huge mistake. It makes placing items so much harder with trying to navigate where exactly you want them.
Final conclusions: No one asked for control changes and no one was complaining about the controls so why try to fix something that isn't broken? I understand that the point was to try and improve console gameplay but in reality, it's made it so much worse and has ruined the game for so many people. In my opinion, the solution should either be reverse the changes you've made to console controls or give us the option that have it either the old way or the new way. Please EA fix what you've broken and give us the game experience we once had and loved.
