Just installed the game and made my first character, seemed fine, then went to add a family member and it wouldn’t allow me to customize the character. Then the UI disappears and I cannot do anything the game locked up.Did I just waste $60?

There's something you could try until they fix this issue, though if you're making big families, it'll take some time. What you can do is make each Sim individually, save them to your Library, then when they're all done, go back into Create A Sim and Merge them all into one household. You'll still be able to edit their relationships this way, so you can still set them as being family. Then save the big household to your Library so you don't lose them.

This sounds like what I experienced last night. Spent 4+ hours on a Sim and when I went to do her Formal outfit, the UI disappeared except for the "filter options" on outfits would pop up wherever I would click. I ended up having to close the game because it wouldn't let me give her an aspiration to save her to my library.

it was completely unprofessional of them to dismiss my thread about the game crashing in basements. I'm sorry you can't return. Neither can I, I bought it on the PS store with the bundle and PlayStation isn't accepting to return the game. Someone didn't do QA which is standard in the industry.

A few nights ago I saw Sims 4 updated and almost lost my mind because I was thinking I can finally play.

Nope. As soon as I get about 10 minutes into making my character the UI disappears and I have to force close the game and retry. I’ve had this game going in a month and haven’t been able to play it at all.

I’m beyond irritated.

We've been having trouble reproducing, is anyone still having this issue? If so, does this happen the first time you try to enter CAS, like on a new game, or it it when editing an existing Sim in Manage/Edit Household? Thanks much for the help!

I start the game and go to create a sim. Everything seems to work fine for about 15-30 minutes and then the HUD disappears and I cannot back out adjust anything. I then have to force close the game and restart. I don’t know what the game is even like because I cannot even get past the character creation for myself or wife.
