Sims 4 won't save on Xbox and PlayStation

So I preorder sims 4 for Xbox one. I have EA access so I started playing early access, but I can't save my game

    A new patch has just been released both for Xbox and PlayStation 4 to address this saving issue. Please, download the patch and let us know if you have any problems.

I did try that last night also, it still would not even auto-save.

Thanks for the information, sorry to read the workaround didn't work for you, @lord-Ewing.

For everyone: Would you mind answering some questions so we can investigate this better?:

 

  1. Were you in live mode, build/buy mode, manage worlds or travelling when you tried to save and this started to happen?
  2. How many Sims did you have in your household?
  3. What lot were you playing on? In that lot, did you have the default house/building or did you buy/build on it?
  4. Did you travel between worlds before trying to save?

    To answer your questions Mai it's hard to pinpoint when it happens but this is exactly what I did step by step.

    Made a sim set him up in willow creek on the bargain bend lot I bought and sold items to get rid of all money so I could start with nothing and no cheats used. I then travelled to the park in willow creek and began looting all e collectable items, rocks and frogs. I did some fishing went to the toilet there. Slept there on the benches. Played on the chess set and spoke to some people. Eventually I returned to my home and built a few items. A bed and toilet then I tried to save the game and it did what it does to everyone else. I tried to save the game in live mode. Build mode I changed to another location to auto save but it did not. I then also tried to save while quitting but it froze and would not let me save and also would not let me return to the menu unless I saved without quitting it would just freeze until using left stick click to bring up controls. I hope this helps.

      Forgot to add I had a single sim in both saves that stopped working I had a male ands female so it's not gender specific

    Hi,

    I have answered your questions below:

    1. I was in live mode when I first noticed the issue, however I tried saving in all modes, build, travelling etc after and had the same issue with them all.

    2. I had a 1 sim household.

    3. I was in the furnished Steamlet Single lot in Willow Creek.

    4. I do believe I did travel to the park & back again before I noticed the issue with unable to save.

    Is this a known issue that is now being investigated? Will this happen in the actual purchased game of Sims 4 also?

    1. I was in live mode
    2. On my last actual save, I had one sim but on the save I was trying to do, I had moved in a sim
    3. I was in the Willow Forest (the lot that the Goths live on) or whatever it’s called and I had bought a default house that was furnished
    4. Yes I did travel before trying to save.

    1. I was in live mode
    2. 1 sim in household
    3. The Forgotten Hollow at the Widowshild townhome. The default house. Did not buy or build anything on it.
    4. Yes I traveled between worlds before trying to save.

    When I click save it just sits here on the pause screen. I have to turn my controller off an on or go to the control screen and back off of it but it never does save. I do not even show an auto save.

    I was in live mode. I have 1 SIM. It is one of the default lots. One bedroom one bath in the first town. (Willow Creek-steamlet single) I preordered the game and actually have the disk not just a download. I haven't traveled between worlds. Just between my house & the nightclub. Well, and work but I only have one auto save. That is from my 2nd day of gameplay, an hour after it DID let me save normally. Tried to save 2 hours after my first save, two promotions too and leveled up some other skills & nothing. Acts like it's saving just like everyone else says but it hasn't. Even tried to travel to the nightclub again to see if I'd get another autosave, nope didn't work. Please help! It's super frustrating!!

    Save issue for me also on PS4! 

    Sim #1 - Regular Playthrough

    1. Were you in live mode, build/buy mode, manage worlds or travelling when you tried to save and this started to happen?- I was in live mode and my sim was sleeping when I tried to save.

    2. How many Sims did you have in your household? - 1 Sim in this household

    3. What lot were you playing on? In that lot, did you have the default house/building or did you buy/build on it? - Sim 1 is living in Daisy Hovel with the default house. The only thing I have changed is the color of the furniture and the house itself.

    4. Did you travel between worlds before trying to save?- Character 1 had just returned home from the Spice Festival and I had her going to bed when I tried to save my game. 

    Sim #2 - Vampire Playthrough

    1. Were you in live mode, build/buy mode, manage worlds or travelling when you tried to save and this started to happen? - I was in live mode and my sim was in bed sleeping when I tried to save.

    2. How many Sims did you have in your household? - 1 Sim in this household

    3. What lot were you playing on? In that lot, did you have the default house/building or did you buy/build on it? - My Vampire is living in Widowshild Townhome and again the only thing I did was change the colors of the furniture and the house itself.

    4. Did you travel between worlds before trying to save? - Character 2 had an autosave after returning from the Romance Festival played for several more hours and decided to save and play my other sim. Game acted like it was saving and then froze. Buttons weren't responding and I had to hard reset the game by closing out and going back into it. Because the game never had a hard save file and just an autosave I lost 6 hours worth of playtime on this sim because the autosave feature overwrites the previous autosave and I lost this Sim playthrough completely. The only thing that exists of this playthrough is my vampire sim and the house recoloring in my library 

    I am playing on PS4 and I also use a 4TB external HD to install my games on. My console has 371GB of space available on it and my external has 2TB of space available on it. On Sim #1 I only lost about 20 mins of playtime due to the autosave feature, but my Sim #2 playthrough was completely lost which was 6 hours of playtime. Both playthroughs responded the same way and acted like it was saving the game, but then froze up and there was no way to get out of the menu except to hard close the game itself and reopen it.

    I'm having the same issue, when I save it acts like it saved then freezes in the menu screen. I have tried to save in live mode, build mode, and the map and it does the same thing. I bought my house in oasis springs and built on it. I have three sims in my house. Although I am having the same problem with the new game I made in a different town and house, with a different number of sims.

      Also having issues with this. I’ve noticed the game rarely auto saves even after travelling and when I attempt to save manually it doesn’t work and I get locked into the menu, forcing me to quit the game and lose my progress.

      What is also somewhat disturbing is the time stamps for my save always show the current time. I attempted to make several save slots as recommended but it’s still a gamble when I go to save as that’s what causes the freeze/crash. So say I boot the game at 12:30, every save 1 through 5 says I last saved at 12:30 so I also end up unsure which one is the newest save.

      A little disheartening and makes me not want to play when I’ve done 3-4 hours of playing and go to save then it crashes. I’ve tried everything while it’s seemingly stuck in the menu, pressing pause makes the menu appear over the last one so the game isn’t entirely frozen, just doesn’t save or let me back out of the menu etc.

      Hopefully this is fixed soon...

    For me it happened after I created a second sim house hold. A single sim which I married into the first house hold. I moved the three person family to a bigger house and that's when I stopped being able to save. I was wondering if by that point after 12hrs of game play there was just too much to save.

    Its happening to me too. I'm in live play, in forgotten hollow, on a lot I built a house on.

    Can't save, did the left stick, then B and it just takes me back to save menu. I can't exit out of there to travel.

    This has happened several times. Hopefully will be worked out soon. Thanks for your help

    What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? The ones that came with the game.
    Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Start a new game.
    What happens when the bug occurs? The save function does nothing.
    What do you expect to see? A menu asking me to name my save file.
    Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
    Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

      What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Sims 4 PS4 + Deluxe Party edition content + Perfect Patio Stuff
      Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? In the pause menu press save and go to manage worlds. The save game list comes up and when you go to save it doesn't save. This also happens with the in-game button in the top right-hand corner. I also think (but not 100% sure) that the game also glitches out similarly but after going to manage worlds and then when trying to save it doesn't. The only way to reset this is by closing the application.
      What happens when the bug occurs? Once the bug occurs, the game will not save even when pressing on a save file, and when trying to exit the pause menu, the menu won't disappear unless you press L3 (the controls button) in which it disappears but doesn't save the progress.
      What do you expect to see? When pressing the options button or circle on the PS4 controller, the pause menu only resets itself, as if it's popping up for the first time.
      Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? On console - never used.
      Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

      I have updated the game to 1.01 and I have the pre-order disc copy.

        Okay so i found a solution that may or may not work but so far so good on my game, it seems to be to do with travelling between lots when you use the little house icon on your players square to return home, i find using the travel option on the phone to return home aswell as travelling to lots doesnt break my ability to save, though i would still save often and take caution until its patched, hope its helped guys!!
