The sims 4 console cheats making me not be able to select anything

I keep getting this glitch where if I copy and paste a command a few times (lets say for this case, I copy "stats.set_skill_level Major_skill " and every time I change the skill and it does work, but when I afterwards go to do anything I can't do it, so I have to reload the game, I have tried going to the menu and back but that doesn't work. (I am on: The SIms 4 Console on a PS4)
