On my account on our xbox the event loads up fine, on my daughter's account on the same Xbox it doesn't, I'm fairly sure hers is set as a child account, is this why?
Are all events and content blocked from being accessed by child accounts? She's been really looking forward to all the new content. Is there anyway round this problem? Maybe a setting or something I've missed.

This is due to how EA account linking and child accounts interact, a child account can't partake in events for The Sims 4 as they can't link an Xbox/Nintendo/PlayStation account to an EA account to receive the event content.
The exception to the above would be for events that have no gameplay component, called "login events", as login events do not have to send and receive data with EA to be completed.
If your child is 13+ (age varies by location) they can link an Xbox/Nintendo/PlayStation account to EA through Game Options > Other. If your child is 12 or under (set on their Microsoft, etc. account), then they can't access events because they won't be able to link their Xbox/Nintendo/PlayStation account to EA.
