I updated my mac, and my households got deleted

So I updated my mac and when I went to play my sims 4, my household was deleted and a new saved game was there. I have no idea what to do but I read comments about someone with the same problem as me, and they had a corrupt file and someone fixed it. Also my mods got deleted and I had to move all my folders back because something weird happened. Can anyone help me??? I am so upset because i worked so hard on this game ☹️

  • @tinateen122  When you relaunch, the game will look like it's brand-new.  There won't be any saves, or builds, or cc, or anything you've added to it since you started playing.  That's fine—the goal here is to successfully load and play a new game.  So create a sim or family (no need to spend much time getting things right; you'll eventually be deleting everything) and move them into a house.  Play for long enough that you know the game is working correctly.  Save, then quit.

Once you're out of the game, look inside Documents\Electronic Arts.  You should see a new TS4 folder.  Don't touch anything yet, just make sure it's there, and post back.

@tinateen122  I'm so glad to hear that.  (Sorry, I got caught up in something for a minute.)  Now, you'll want to test each save to make sure it's working.

Also, what do I do with the stuff inside my sims 4 user data folder. Like the old cache, tray folder and old saves folder.

@tinateen122  You test each save by loading and playing with it.  If you only have the one family that you just recovered, you've done what you needed to do.  But if there are other households, try loading them as well.  You're just making sure that every save is intact and playable.

Once you've tested all your saves, we can move on to the other contents of the user data folder.

Okay I only have one household so I think I am good. I am going to test my mods and then probably finish it tomorrow and i will keep you updated.

@tinateen122  Sounds good.  I hope everything continues to work, but remember that some of your mods might be outdated.  If a batch of them won't load, it doesn't mean that your game is broken, just a mod.

Feel free to post back here with any other questions, and good luck.
