Lighting on low creates black lines on floor

For some reason when my lighting setting is on low (which i prefer it on) it creates these weird black triangles on the ground.

They also disappear and reappear whenever I move the angle on the mouse and i'm not sure why. I tried putting the lighting on medium and they aren't there at all but recently my game runs much smoother on low.

I've attached an image of what it looks like. Is there any way to fix it? Any help is appreciated! Thanks 🙂

  • Hi @Natalieterry_xo,

I can see why those lines can be annoying! Let's try to fix it. 🙂

I have just tried setting my game's graphics to low but I get no lines. Would you mind giving me some more information? I'd need two things:

    1. A screenshot of your graphics settings in the game.
    2. Your dxdiag. If you need help to get a dxdiag, take a look here.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks for getting back to me!

I will attach a photo of my graphics settings.

However i couldn't post the second one as i have a mac and it didn't give me instructions on how to for a mac.

How would i go about getting my dxdiag on a mac?

    Hi @Natalieterry_xo

I moved your thread to The Sims Mac board 😉

It is not possible to get a dxdiag on a Mac. Instead, just share your Mac's specifications as it is explained here.

    Thank you!

@Natalieterry_xo, could you try to lower your other settings? If you set everything to low, does it still happen?

Do you have any mods installed in the game? If so, does it still happen if you remove them?

    -Mai 🙂

  • I just put all my settings on low and removed my mods, the lines are no longer there. I then kept my settings on low and put my mods back in, restarted the game and still no lines so it must be an issue with the graphics. I'm going to have a play around, changing each setting back to high one by one, keeping my lighting on low and see how it works out. I may be able to find out what setting makes the lines appear, if I do i will return with an update.

    Hi @Natalieterry_xo,

How did the experiment go? Did you find the setting that's giving you issues?

Hope you are having fun 😉

  • Hiya Mai, still no luck! ☚ī¸
I've moved my sim into an apartment instead as it's harder to see the lines in the city. Just gonna have to bare with it until it fixes itself in a patch or hopefully just goes away lol. Thanks for everything x
